After the sad passing of Sarkic, Millwall’s first game was always going to be an emotional one. As a club we’re quite good at paying tribute to others (Leicester’s owner springs to mind)- it’ll be a difficult day for sure
Looking at the ones I'd want to tick off, Swansea away on a Tuesday night again and Burnley the weekend before Xmas aren't great. Oxford in March seems a long way off. Pompey on Easter Monday not too bad I suppose as potential weekend on the coast could be doable.
Not yet but will be before the season starts. “ Within seven days of the 2024/25 Fixture Release selections shall be made in respect of all matches to be played before the end of September. Before the start of the season, selections shall be made in respect of all matches scheduled to be played prior to the end of the third round of the FA Cup (January 2024).”
Is it me or do we always seem to have a long trek to Lancs on the weekend before Christmas? Bonus is that I won't miss a home game because of my summer holiday unless they move the Derby game back to the Sunday.
What are the potential TV timeslots? I assume Sat 12:30 is one, and probably Sat 17:30, aren't there supposed to be 5 or 6 of them each week?
I would have thought Friday 20:00, Saturday 12:30, 17:30, 20:00, Sunday 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and Monday 20:00
Indeed. This could be a very disjointed season with more games than ever being shifted. On the plus side, League 1's opening day games will kick-off at 5.30pm, and being the sort of anorak who is happy to take in more than one game on a day when the opportunity arises, I spy Orient v. Bolton before heading home.
Something like this I guess if this if the trend setter . 4 matches on Friday night - 2 Championship, 1 League One, 1 League Two 12:30pm Saturday - The main Championship slot as 8 matches take place at the same time. 3:00pm Saturday - 11 League Two matches at the same time. 5:30pm Saturday - 11 League One matches at the same time. Sunday 11th August 4:00pm - 1 Championship match Monday 12th August 8:00pm - 1 Championship match. 6 games on Sky Sports Football/Sky Sports Main Event (1 game in each slot.)
Is this a complete guess or have you read something? Because if they've moved the main bulk of weekly Championship games to 12.30 on a Saturday I'll knock my season ticket on the head.
I think thats just a one-off. For Championship clubs a "normal" weekend will have a Friday and Monday night plus Sunday and then a 12.30 and 5.30 on a Saturday so 7 games with a 3pm KO on a saturday.
Did read it but yes you are probably right . Won’t be all games and those selected will be at those time .
Millwall away. Our record there is dreadful, but it will be more for the occasion than the football. Would be nice to continue our run of winning the opening game but you can never tell, and considering what the state of our squad could be before kick off, it could well be a very difficult game. At least we don't go to the Kennel till October. Should be well ahead/behind them by then.
On the opening weekend, there's a couple of Friday night games, one Sunday game and one Monday game. The rest of the Championship is at 12.30 on Saturday, League Two at 3pm (so the blackout is now a thing of the past), and League One is at 5.30pm. All game available on this new Sky Sports +. Is that a TV channel or a browser thing? So, I am going to guess that there'll be televised 3pm Saturday games but it does look like a lot of games are going to be moved.
They've waived the 3pm blackout for opening day and a handful of other dates apparently, but it's otherwise intact. I believe the Sky Sports+ thing is like the red button setup, but available via streaming options too.
Ah, interesting. I didn't realise that. In which case there's not going to be many Saturday 3pm games then is there?
Derby H then Sheff Utd A straight afterward will be an interesting few games. Derby could be in the mud and Sheff Utd could be top six. Us? Stuck in the middle.
I was a bit surprised that we play the Scum away on October and not at home until February but that’s pretty similar to when we played them in the Div 2 title-winning season.
