Watched The Devils Advocate for the first time with the Mrs over the weekend. What’s all the fuss about? Boring, average and takes far too long to get going.

Deadpool and Wolverine, pile of unfunny stupid cak. Couple of semi interesting bits and obviously pokes fun at itself, but it's boring and aimed at people with half a brain cell.

Saw Gladiator 2 yesterday. Decent watch.

Carry On - a straight to Netflix thriller starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman. Egerton stars as a TSA agent who is being blackmailed to help get a package through airport security. A really simple premise but very watchable. It takes place on Christmas Eve, so has a touch of the die hard feeling to it. Worth a watch IMO.

It was an OK watch but in all honesty you can pick the movie apart.

Went with the wife to see Wicked on Friday. Was alright, first two thirds of the film dragged the as soon as they got to Oz it flew by and was a different film.

  7. Yeah I caught that last week. Similar thoughts. Not like the first 2, this one was just Ryan Reynolds just trying to be as Ryan Reynolds quirky as he could which got tiresome after about 30 minutes.

A couple of nostalgia bits but nothing worthy of racing to see it, and not something I'll rewatch I wouldn't think.

Do you get a front view in the remake? If so might watch.

Just watched "Twin Town!" again Twin Town (1997) - IMDb

Good, but not as good as when it was released. But then again neither was Trainspotting.

Ridley Scott has caused quite a fuss in Malta lol. He took 47 million Euros of government money to come over and shoot the movie on the island, then did a Q and A soon after with Christopher Nolan in which he said he wouldn’t ever go on holiday there. Fair enough, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but he’s upset the Maltese for being ungrateful.

I have heard others say, like you, the beginning dragged a bit but I didn’t find that at all. Loved it from beginning to end. Mind you, I am a sucker for musicals and it’s one of the rare ones I haven’t seen so I went in knowing nothing about the storyline apart from it being the “back story” of the witches.

I'll definitely give it another go! I'm taking the wife to see the theatre play in London later in the year, I'm hoping the tighter format is more for me.

Watched "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" for the umpteenth time today.

I know it's old and cheesy, but I love it!!! It's one of my all time favourite films, and I never tire of it!!!

I'd never seen any of the Godfather films before probably as they are just so long, so with plenty of time off at Christmas I worked my way through the trilogy and wasn't disappointed. Each one brilliant and as a trilogy it's a masterpiece.

  18. Got round to watching John Wick 4 today and I agree with you completely.

It was not great. Fight scenes were absolutely laughable and got tiresome in the end.

That steps scene up to the church man - I audibly groaned at one point.

    And they're making a 5

Silverado!!! A great Western, and with a surprising number of big name stars in it.

    Well worth a watch IMO!!!

  20. The Fall Guy was very enjoyable. Funny, entertaining and just very nice.

Watched the Godfather Trilogy again this Christmas/New Year - part of our festive routine although not so keen on the third.
Also watched the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies yet again - I know these are not everybody's cup of tea but we like them.
Was also disappointed with John Wick 4

Recently I watched one I did quite like, was a bit wild but watchable nonetheless (Gone Girl).
And one that I didn't like as I wasn't scared by it at all and thought it was a bit stoopid (Hereditary).

Not a film, but a tv series

    "The Vanishings"

I just binge watched it, but my advice to you is:-

    DON'T DO IT!!!

Saw the stage production today and it was far better than the film. But it also made me appreciate the film a bit better.

When you've got two leads as good as Quaid and Thatcher with an intelligent script you're onto a winner.

PS This is definitely not a "I've seen the trailer so I don't need to see the film".

I watched One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest last night for the first time ever (I know I know…)

Great film. Oddly touching and very bittersweet.

Not sure I can get on board with young Danny DeVito though!

The Brutalist made me lose the will to live. I fell asleep briefly twice and every time I woke up there seemed to be an odd sex scene. The transition from sleep to awake caught me out of few times.

"whats going on here Jumbo? Right Guy Pearce is helping that Brody chap after drinking too much. OMG that's not right!"

Watched "The Gorge" on Apple TV.

Starts off well enough, but then slips into pretty standard fair served up by US Film makers... ultimately felt disappointed by the plot. Could have done much better. Very generic ending.

Agree. Liked it overall but as you say first 45 mins very intriguing and then just became like many other films (not to spoil it for others). I’d still recommend it though.
