Yes this is a good point. My own parents are Irish. A large percentage of the England team could have qualified to play for Ireland. Rice and Grealish obviously, but Harry Kane has an Irish parent, Gallagher and Bellingham have Irish passports.
Got half an hour. Looked to get forward and be a threat but also a bit lost at times against a tough opponent.
Needs to up his game on the defensive side, but looks promising going forward. A physically stronger player than Andrews, but similar in playing strengths and weaknesses. He allowed their forward get a free header (Cov player should have scored). He was also out of position defensively on a couple of occasions. Video analysis will be needed.
Him and Baah are mustard. As is Louza. We have the foundation for a premier League squad with these 3. If we could sign 2 more of this quality in January and somehow fluke a promotion, then sign 3 more of their quality in the summer I think we'd stay up effortlessly. Dead fkin serious. Make it happen Pozzo, you permed penis.
Ha your disgust is probably justified, but my jury is still out on him. Ugly bastards unfortunately receive stricter scrutiny. But I categorically have NOT written him off.
Festy came on late for Ireland and performed very well, effectively as a left winger and he has set up the winner for Ireland.
Hopefully not a nasty injury he picked up just before he was due to come off! Shame Festy couldn't sort his feet out after that great pass from Louza. Seen a couple of people say he was pulled back though whilst going through.
Expected his defensive stats to increase playing in the Champ, but they've generally been pretty good so far - in addition to his incredible offensive stats. Beast
Festy gone off injured for Ireland after 70 minutes. Not sure how sure how serious it is. Did well while he was on.
Was just typing that it is good news that he started for Ireland and then I see this! Caoimhín Kelleher is way too good to be sitting on the bench as a number two.
Possibly. He was sprinting strongly in the game. He has some pace. Looks like a calf injury. Maybe it just got tight and he knew to go down and protect himself. Hopefully not to serious. It would be reckless for Festy or Ireland to consider playing him in the next game. We should have more than enough to beat our next opponents without him.
The modern footballer default is to pretend everything hurts and is potentially career ending. A player was stretchered off with paramedics recently in a Man Utd game...for a sprained ankle.
Ireland backs to the wall, but doing well. Festy is having a very solid game. VAR letting Ireland down for at least one penalty. If England take Kane off, they will win comfortably.
Does it matter ? Apparently we go “back to the top tier of world(?) football”? Surely this is just a nonsense competition which is why so many players are unavailable and it wouldn’t really matter if we lost 0-8? If you are English and occasionally play in the prem, you should be asking serious questions of the FA if you don’t yet have an England cap.
Can anyone name the last Watford player to play full international match for Ireland against England?
Well suppose not but means we avoid any play offs in March so can start the World Cup qualifiers straight away . I think the Greece home game showed there would be some criticism if we lost too . Overall no isn’t that important and makes much difference I agree but gives a more positive feel going into the new management.
Stopped watching after the penalty. Presumably he has scored a hat trick. If so, the genetically Irish pensioner has played better in the 2nd half.
No he didn’t. Classic game of 2 halves Well done to the guys who scored their first goals . England just moved the ball better and with a bit of pace and out wide . v 10 men which helped .
England ressies not such a bad side after all . I wonder how nations "b" team would win 8-0 on aggregate against Greece and Ireland ?
Stopped watching after the red card. Not too interested in international football anyway and the sending off was always going to ruin the game. Only really watched it as was curious how Ebosele would get on against better players. I thought he done well, I quite enjoyed seeing him further forward and supporting the wing back. Certainly something that could be worth a look at with Andrews or Ngakia when he's not injured, could be good in away games.
