Derby right back going to Udinese, which may mean he pops up at Vicarage Road. Rooney reckons he'll be a superstar, some fans saying it's all good but no end product and a dodgy first touch. Sounds like a perfect three way battle with Jezza and Kiko for right back. https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sp.../derby-county-rooney-transfer-ebosele-6835394
Any chance of @reids being able to do a statsbomb comparison of this lad from this season vs Ngakia in the champ last season? Being greedy also vs Kiko in the Champ last season. Thanks.
That's using the full-back template, although this isn't likely a true representation as Festy has mostly been used as a winger this season but has also been used sparingly in central midfield and up front which will likely skew the data somewhat!
Hopefully he’s signing because Rooney told us to ahead of him becoming our new head coach in the summer. #ForzaUdi
Can see Jon Marks saying: 'Ebosele, plays it into midfield to Kayembe, he's closed down so knocks it back to Kabasele who plays it long... And it's gone out for a throw'
Thanks. Good dribbling, but passing and progressive balls seems worryingly poor for a supposedly attacking full back. Are a lot of his passes risky? Does he manage a decent xA?
it's also been reported at the same time Udinese also signed another young defender James Abankwah who is Irish, back in January so we may see him at some time.
A player I have followed from a distance as an Ireland fan. The lad is absolutely lightening quick, he needs to improve in some areas but he is still young and he certainly has plenty of potential.
Good young player for St Pats, he is athletic strong and quite an intelligent player for his age. Definitely one for the future, whether that is here or at Udinese.
(radar as a winger) Both xG and xGA are poor with 0.07 xG and 0.05 xGA per 90 mins - although that being said, he's only 19 and in his first full season of senior football. Above is a map of all his failed passes, a lot of them are crosses or passes into the final third which are obviously pretty risky - I'm no expert in this field and I'm not sure what the average amount would be, but there also looks (to me anyway!) to be a surprising amount of failed back-passes, both in his defensive third and also a bit further forward. Thinking aloud here - it should be possible to compare to Kiko + Ngakia last season from to work out a (very small sample size) average amount. I set the filters to look for failed passes that start in the areas highlighted on the left hand side and ended in the areas highlighted on the right hand side Kiko made 177 unsuccessful passes into these areas in 3035 mins (or 1 every 17 mins) Ngakia made 70 unsuccessful passes in 1602 mins (or 1 every 23 mins) Festy has actually only made 11 unsuccessful passes in 1588 mins (or 1 every 144 mins). So my initial thoughts were actually wrong - although as above - Festy hasn't played as many games at full-back as Kiko/Ngakia which I imagine would distort this slightly. If we use that graphic of time spent in each position and add up the time spent at LB/LWB/RB/RWB it equals 639 mins, even if all the above failed passes came whilst he was playing wing-back/full-back it still only equates to 1 failed pass every 58 mins - far superior to Ngakia and Kiko still - so my initial assumption seems to be wrong. I don't know why I just typed all this out, but still.
I’ve only seen him a few times, but would you say he’s eerily similar to a younger Adama Traore? Probably the quickest player in the division, will drive you up field and create space for others, but the final action lets him down? Excellent player to have off the bench, but if you could improve his delivery, he’s special?
Not the first time I’ve seen this comparison made. If you search ‘Ebosele Adama’ on Twitter you’ll seeing Derby/Irish Youth fans tripping over each other to make the comparison.
I haven't seen a whole lot of him either (2/3 games I think) but I'd say that's a decent comparison. Statsbomb only starts at the 18/19 season but this is Adama in 18/19 for Wolves compared to Festy this season, relatively similar stats (although Adama was 4 years older than Festy at this point)
Has apparently liked a comment on Instagram where someone welcomes him to Watford under Udinese’s announcement post.
I presume we would only get him on loan ourselves though. He can enjoy having 3/4 managers a season and probably be in and out of the squad though as you say.
Given that Femenia is a crock and I reckon this lad seems marginally more promising than Ngakia I think there should still be enough opportunities for him. The fact that he also seems capable as a winger should also help with getting minutes.
If he does get loaned straight here we can look forward to yet another round of 'all that's wrong with football' bashing for dodgily evading the compensation laws, and, frankly, it won't be undeserved - we'd be baying at the idea of another club doing it, especially if it was to us. I'd also be surprised given the talk of him wanting to move to Udinese for the tactical development on the training pitch in Leventhal's piece on him, but who ever has any idea with these sorts of things and us:
Least it will probably be more settled there I guess for him too. They perhaps already have a manager in place for next season as as a starter.
Baah will be looking to get out at the first opportunity, I'd have thought - he's come much too far to drop back down now, and Gino will be too tempted to cash in on a likely bidding war.
You joke, but after he returns from injury - like a new SIGNING - and fires us to safety, methinks somebody on here will have some HUMBLE pie to force down. There’s no reason to think we couldn’t get 20 million for him, AT LEAST.
