I watched the first episode. It was good, but I got sidetracked.

Very true - especially the series set in the mythical country of Oirland.

I just decided to watch this too.

Agree, the farming aspect is really interesting. I think it’s a very good show.

Well after my Mrs having to "endure" so much football she decided on a series to watch. Cruel Summer. It started off well switching between three separate years in the 90's. A good well thought out drama, thriller that is keeping us guessing all the way through. Well worth a look if you're short of something to watch.

Where can we watch, my initial brief investigation didn't tell me.

  8. End was good. Accountant concluded: You've worked 24/7 16 hours a day for the last year. You've made £144. But it's not all bad, we get these EU grants...

Really liked the Shield, and Sons of Anarchy... as mentioned you see the same faces crop up in both, like they do on Homicide Life on the Street and The Wire.
Katey Sagal is great in SoA and Stephen King makes an appearance as "Bachmann" which was fun.

Saw the first episode of Mayans a while back and thought it was a bit rubbish to be honest, gave up on it then.

I’m not sure how much of the money went on machinery or animals they can use next year etc.

But it’s definitely going to be even more brutal for farmers when the subsidies run out.

Just finished the 'last' (s02e08) of the superb (and at times harrowing) "War of The Worlds". Really, surprisingly, satisfying ending (no reams of techno-gobbledegook dialogue from the characters to justify their actions) - they just finished it.

But what's that on the horizon? Everything about the two series has been fantastic (characters, dialogue, subdued performances and SFX) so they've set a really high bar for themselves...

Just started watching designated survivor , it’s alright , but a massive rip off of the west wing with a dose of 24 added in for variety

Finally got around to watching the first series of Toast of London. Some moments in it had me crying with laughter, properly original and surreal.

The episode with the African Princess who had plastic surgery to look like Bruce Forsyth and the scene where she’s sitting at the kitchen table buttering bread and making eyes at Matt Berry. I couldn’t breathe I was laughing so hard.

I watched a couple of episodes before deciding I only had one life on Earth to live and that wasn’t the way.

Wasn’t it built on the premise that the accidental President was incapable of telling a lie? The President of the United States incapable of telling a lie.

    Maybe it was satire.

I watched it a couple of years back, I think they were supposed to do a 4th series but it got canned. Like you say it's OK and relatively light viewing, it's not particularly cutting edge nor a "must see". From a character point of view I found Kiefer Sutherland's character warm and likeable but naive (as is how it was supposed to be) but all of the other support cast I found somewhere between crap and nauseating apart from Seth and to a lesser extent Hannah the FBI agent.

Just finished Breaking Bad, that last series was awesome. Now I'm floating about looking for something to get attached to, but it's like finishing a good book, it takes a while before anything else comes close.

I know the feeling. Once you’ve digested it the only step to take next is Better Call Saul. It’s slower paced than BB but it obviously inhabits to same world. Rattle through it and you might be caught up ready for the release of the new season!

I’m half way through the 2nd series and you do spend a lot of time thinking that would never happen in real life , a bit like 24 think it def has a shelf life there is a limited to how much bad luck a president could have

I don’t know if it’s better, who can say, but as much as I was engrossed by BB I prefer BCS.

Better Call Saul is the obvious next step. Ozark the next most obvious. Which is why you should probably go for something with zero killings.

It's difficult to say which is better. BB was simply brilliant, although I found the first series not so great. I've enjoyed BCS and each season got better than the previous, however I think having seen up to series 5 I would struggle to enjoy series 1 again as it was so slow.

    I want a poster of the best names made up by the writer Arthur Matthews. Favourites from Toast and Father Ted include;

    - Clem Fandango
    - Father Todd Umptuous
    - Hamilton Meathouse
    - Jenny Spasm
    - Pat Mustard
    - Cliff Bonanza

YES I CAN HEAR YOU CLEM FANDANGO!

"This Way Up" has just returned (on C4) for its 2nd series. It's 'sort of' 'like' the superlative 'Catastrophe' in that the central character is an Irish girl in London and Sharron Horgan stars and was a producer. Aisling Bea is a very good comic (is she at the St Albans summer comedy thing?) and the first series proved that she's also a very good actor and writer. The first series is on the C4 catch-up thingy and I'm really looking forward to the 2nd.

4 eps into S02 of Black Summer and it's really violent, with unsetttling scenes and this time around it's still using vignettes but telling the story in a non-linear way. It's very, very watchable.

This prompted me to finally go back and watch Breaking Bad also.

I watched four episodes when it first came out and never bothered returning.

I must say I actually struggled with the first two seasons, I had a few weeks in the middle again when I just didn’t feel compelled to go back to it, I kept falling asleep though the episodes as I found them very slow.

Luckily I did, as season three and four really go up the gears and now I’m completely hooked.

I do find Jessie extremely irritating a lot of the time, the bit where he lead Hank to the RV really would me up.

    My current shows are

Ted Lasso is surprisingly watchable about an American football manager than switches to the premiership
What we do in the shadows is alright in an office meets twilight kind of way
Pixels is funny in a very geeky way
