Showtrial, series two, (BBC) has been top-notch stuff for anyone who enjoys a touch of the Bent Coppers! genre. Very well acted and tightly scripted, with a particularly compelling performance by Michael Socha as the self-destructive cop accused.

It’s not perfect, with the odd misstep, like violent climate change splinter groups (there aren’t any) and a jury that seems to react like Kenneth Williams to any new development (aww! I say!) but much of it is absolutely first rate.

  2. I read that season 1-3 weren't really connected to TWD but season 4 onwards was as featured some TWD characters
    Morgan
. Just assumed is was like a lot of other groups we meet along the way in TWD in that the group came across them but you didn't always need a full back story to understand what they were about.

Anyway, I'm taking a small break now and watching The Acolyte and ST Prodigy season 2 (and maybe my guilty pleasure The Ark) before going back to it.

Rivals (The Jilly Cooper book) is silly, but great fun. Banging 80s soundtrack and very easy on the eye.

You are not alone brother. The writing and acting are all over the place - but it's just got 'something' (and I'm not just talking about all the Serbian eye-candy)...

  6. Ha, my wife (who isn't into science fiction at all) would put the acting on a par with when I watched Andromeda a few years back.

She clearly has no taste as Kevin Sorbo is an amazing actor.

This coming from the person who spends evenings watching MAFs, Below Decks and Selling Sunset!

    I won't comment on the eye-candy for fear she'll read this! ;)

Yes, Mrs K sent me it yesterday. Excellent! Although, as someone pointed out, it misses out the couple admitting that they have now broken up/divorced!

Was looking for something easy to put on before bed last night so stuck BBC comedy Daddy Issues on, expected nothing, but was very pleasantly surprised, was actually quite funny.

Finally got round to watching Chernobyl - very good and can see why it received so many plaudits.

Disclaimer on apple+. My missus got me to watch it last night and we did the entire series in one go. I thought it was a really good watch. Well worth a look imo.

    100% Anti-Soviet propaganda.
The plant did exceptionally well to withstand that US missile attack with just a minor leak which was swiftly contained.

  22. I completed the Acolyte. Generally OK, decent lightsaber fights. OK story, though I thought it was supposed to be more of a Sith story but seemed to be just usual Jedi stuff with a bit of Sith thrown in for an episode or 2.

Also completed The Ark season 2. Still very much a guilty pleasure. Awful acting, stories all over the place, but just cute space drama!

Just started 3 Body Problem. First episode was really tough going! Will persist as only 8 episodes so far.

Not sure when I'll rejoin Walking Dead. Think I overdosed a bit so needed a good break.

It was good. Not as amazing as he made it seem but it was interesting. Will definitely watch the next series.

I liked 3BP, like you say not amazing but interesting. I’m just grateful something like that got recommissioned by Netflix, unlike the excellent Kaos that they canned because it didn’t quite get enough viewers.

On another note I’ve been following and commenting on your watching of TWD after watching it back when it was on TV. My Mrs really liked TLOU which was a surprise to me as she generally doesn’t like anything remotely not real, so I suggested she started in TWD. She started about a year ago, watching an episode an episode here and there, mostly when I wasn’t around. It took her ages to make any progress as she thought it was boring, especially the bit on the farm.

Anyway, once it got to season 3 and the Governor arc she was hooked and I started rewatching with her. First time round I was watching it when it was on TV, so one episode every week. I lost patience sometime in season 7 and just gave up on it. Second time around having the benefit of binge watching I’ve actually enjoyed it more. There are some really boring episodes, and once you have a big story arc like the governor you tend to have a quite boring period which I think watching weekly makes it really tough, but is manageable when you can watch 3/4 on the bounce and get past one of the characters temporarily going mad for a bit, or the flashbacks to someone’s past.

Anyway, last night we got to season 8, so I’m now in uncharted territory and haven’t seen any of it. I think I’ve read season 8 and 9 are trial trash, but season 10 and 11 are actually not too bad, so we’ll see how we go.

One thing that has ruined it a bit, especially the rest of season 7 is having seen who is in the the three spin offs that have been released, as that somewhat removes the jeopardy from a lot of situations, but that’s my fault for coming back to a series a few years after it ended.

Edit: actually I read season 8 is the absolute worst, season 9 is then one of the best and then 10 and 11 are meh, so will try and get through 8 to see what 9 is all about, at least.

  30. Ah man I really loved Kaos. Felt really different and unique (someone woll tell me it's a remake now!).

I only found it as it was on my Netflix things I might be interested in so I wonder if lack of advertising was responsible for the lower numbers.

There's a petition to save it but it's not really getting a lot of traction

I've still not picked TWD up again yet. Still at the start of S7. I think after Christmas I might.

Watching ST Prodigy and Agatha All Along. Then probably Skeleton Crew.

Keep thinking I need a rewatch of the West Wing soon.

Say Nothing on Disney+ was very well made. The book was excellent and the TV series matched it with outstanding performances from Lola Petticrew, Josh Finan, Anthony Boyle and Rory Kinnear in particular.
