I met Greg Wallace once. He was an utter *******. Don’t fall for the “cheeky chappy” persona he adopts for TV.

I can 100% believe that, he comes across as rather false.

Agree about Inside the Factory. Gregg Wallace pointing and fake laughing at biscuits on a conveyor belt. No ta.

Always quite liked Food Unwrapped on channel 4. The carbon footprint of the show must be obscene but I like seeing grumpy Mediterranean farmers showing the host around his almond plantation and looking throughly pissed off.

    True.

I like eating a really hot pasty and making a noise like a chimpanzee doing kung fu oohoohoohoohoohahahahahaha etc.

    The winter evenings fly by.

I've never ever set foot in a Greggs. True story. FACT !

Ginsters are the only acceptable pasty....
For my wife's birthday we go out to a nice restaurant.
For mine, we stay in and have ginsters pasties (or a pie), McCain crinkly homefries, fried onions, fried mushrooms and lots of ketchup !

If you are used to proper Cornish pasties, they most certainly are not.

Best option in the SE of England though ? What do you suggest ?

Well, I would suggest one of the growing number of "genuine" outlets. Eg the Cornish Bakehouse which seems to now have a presence at several major stations in London: think I have also seen Warrens bakers around there too. BIt pricey, but worth it.

My school friend and fellow Cornishman Andy and I notionally discussed this as a business idea about 20 years ago, wish we had pursued it!

Actually I don't mind the GInsters traditional Cornish pasty too much but it isn't a patch on the real thing.

And personally I would never have chips with it but I know some who do!

Yes tried those but other than being "fresh", didn't think they taste as good as the "genuine" ginsters ones :).
Still...nothing to do with favourite tv shows....

Jen's Pasties made by a lady in Watford, she sells them at St Albans Farmers market or I think you can collect from her house in North Watford. Doesn't have a website but you can find them on Facebook. Highly recommended.

Well just finished Dexter series 8, the last series of the original batch, and......

What were they thinking with that ****ing ending ? Totally unneccessary misery all round. Could easily have let them "get away" and Debs & Quinn together. Googled to see what the reaction was an inadvertantly read the ending to the "New blood" series too.....again what were they thinking ?? No point in watching that series now. A bit like the unneccesary death in the ending of the first set of Cold Feet. Why do writers decide to leave millions of viewers who've sat though 8 series, 9 if you count the last one, really miserable !!!!

Seeing we're all very gloomy at mo' I think we all need a good laugh. You know who someone watched "The Cosby Show" and asked themselves whether it was possible to remake the show with "White Trash" (and produced the superlative "Married With Children") I'm assuming that someone did the same with "Cops" and produced, showing that once again that I'm Dr Zeitgeist, the amazing "Reno 911!" (I'm coming to the end of s01, I've seen on wiki that it's available through netflix and I assume that lots of them are on you tube).

Weren't these a retelling of important Buddhist myths?

I used to love it, though I am sure I never understood any of it. A girl who was a boy monk and a man with Mungo Jerry sideburns riding a cloud and having stick fights.

Something along those lines. It's quite good fun to see it again, particularly with the exaggerated dubbing to fit the original dialogue pattern/lip movements.

Yep. They ****ed it at the end of season 8, redeemed it with a great first 9 episodes in New Blood, and then completely ****ed it again with the finale.

    Good times.

  29. I've just finished After Life. Saw a couple of you commented on this a page ago.

I found it a really nice watch. A change of pace to the stuff I usually watch and the scenery, music and filming was really quite relaxing and calming.

I did get to a point when I though "another monologue about how sad he is" but then I thought, this is probably what's it's like to lose someone so close. In a perfect world it doesn't suddenly end.

I did miss Sandy and Daphne in season 3.

Lenny scoffing breast milk rice puddings in season 1 had me in tears of laughter!

It's a shame it only got 3 seasons. I'd like a Tambury Gazette spin off series!

For me it felt like a season too long, but I agree with you about the calming effect of the scenery etc.

This is the best part of season 3 for me, (warning, not particularly work/school safe in parts):

Ozark (Netflix) returned last week and was bang on form, cranking up the tension. There are seven episodes building up to a mid-season cliffhanger. Then there will be seven more towards the end of the year.

Some of it appears highly improbable (Jonah is 14, huh?) but it’s probably the most plot driven, no let up series of a high quality since Breaking Bad. Better Call Saul is altogether better, but it’s no so relentless.

Anyway, if you liked it before, you won’t be disappointed.

For me the new series of After Life drags a bit and at times I felt like shaking Ricky Gervais's character and giving him a 'FFS mate, come on, pull yourself together' pep talk. I thought 'Brian" (the bearded one who delivers the papers in a supermarket trolley) was excellent though.

I finished this last week. Up there with the best shows I’ve ever seen. Keaton’s finest performance, albeit for a character who wasn’t real despite the true story. Poulter excellent as always and Kaitlyn Dever was simply sensational.

Horrific in parts, sickening in others, not an easy watch. But an important one. To see they are still chugging along as Mundipharma was a shocker to me. One of those shows that will never really leave my mind. I’m certainly thankful for the explainers.
