2 questions... How long before he's relegated to the bench? And how long before he's not even on the bench?
But presumably we have to pay back Boro some of their season-long loan fee. Worth it to get rid of him, though.
Not according to WDS "Watford will receive £1.5m from Birmingham City for Fabbrini on top of the £250,000 loan fee they were paid in August by Middlesbrough who, we understand, also paid the player’s five-figure salary in full for the time he was at the Riverside" Now that's the way to do it!! Good luck though Fabs.
Fantastic bit of business, 1.75m is top work by Gino. With getting 2.5m loan fee for Vydra it will be interesting if they do something similar with him next season and how much they got off QPR for Angella, im sure they had to pay some sort of fee and wonder whether his loan may be ended as he doesn't seem to be playing much. The Pozzo's seem extremely shrewd with their dealings.
Interesting for people to say 'nice bit of cash', how much did he cost the Pozzo's in the first place I wonder?
According to Wikipedia he was initially bought in a co-ownership deal with Angella for 3m euro, then Udinese bought the final 50% in another co-ownership deal with Danielle Mori for 2.4m euros. Makes telling what they paid for him quite difficult. If you say he was worth 50% of each deal then that's 2.7m euro, which at todays rate is just over £2m. However during that time he has been on multiple loan deals to; Palermo, siena, millwall, Birmingham and boro. They have probably just about struck even on him. Of course ive neglected to mention his wages....
So to be honest, that's not too bad at all, nice bit of cash. Wages would have picked up by the majority of the loan clubs. Now, do we have a percentage sell on from when he goes for 6 million to Bournemouth next season?
You would like to think so. The way the club operates now, means they are very shrewd in the transfer market. According to WD sport we have received over £9m in transfer and loan fees this season which is fantastic considering all the players who have left are no more than squad players. Imagine if we can operate on a model like that where we spin average players for decent fees occasionally selling a potential superstar (e.g. an ighalo sale in the summer for £25m plus). That's a very feasible way to operate a football club and allows us some leeway to get in a potential hotshot young replacement for said superstar.
For some reason, Birmingham made him sit on the floor for his unveiling photo. He's affecting a smile but definitely has the look of someone wondering what the next step down the ladder will be after Birmingham. Crewe? Rochdale?
There was something very special about that player, let's be honest £1.5 million is peanuts now, may have been worth keeping to see if he was a player that is made for the premier league, could have been a good asset to have on th bench. Good luck to him, will be interesting to see how he does, I always take an interest in ex Watford players
Fabbrini now loaned out to Serie B side Spezia Calcio with an option to buy. I wonder how much of the £1.5m Birmingham are going to get back??
He was physically feeble with the heart of a fruitfly. Amazed he has lasted in English soccer for so long
I liked him but he did look like he was constantly behind TD in the canteen! On the other hand not a drain on NHS resources!
This made me laugh. A very spineless creature he was indeed. Night and day from Forestieri who had a heart. This guy has been an absolute waste of talent.
The game's full of very talented but ultimately useless footballers like Fabs, and strangely most of them seem to have played for us at some point. Why is that?
