QSF did the same in the 2016 semi final. It’s the obsession that the Cup means less than the league and it’s the only time to give the sub keeper a game. Not in the semi or final, surely!
They brought on KDB. We brought on Issac Success and some Cleverley chap . What has happened to Phil Foden and Grealish is a nothing player there now . I mean guess they will say the game would have been different had Henderson been sent off but City hardly had a worthwhile effort on goal second half . Made me think even v 10 men they might have struggled.
If I remember correctly, Foster himself said he was cool with the decision to play Gomes, probably because he is a ‘proper legend’ or something. Not that I try to remember that game very often, but I don’t remember Gomes being at fault for any of the goals
Yes he did, but what was supposed to say? “I’m p****d because I should have played because I’m much better than over-the-hill Gomes”?
Actually only 16 points ahead - I think you were looking at the GF column by mistake! Also Man City were 48 points ahead with almost double our points total of 50, but like pretty much all encounters with us they were certainly more than just under twice as good as us.
But does loads of interviews with players and staff on his podcast ? Maybe meant doesn’t like watching it as such but enjoys the chat ?
Everyone can be smart after the event but I can just imagine how the narrative would have gone had Foster played, we still got gubbed 0-6, and he chucked the first one in !.
The main thing that rankled with me is that we gave Gomes the big build-up only for him to do a U-turn and end up staying!
I was delighted to see Hughes lifting the cup, I was supporting Palace over City. Easy to see why the big clubs around England and Europe are interested in Wharton, fantastic young player, needs to be with Rice and Bellingham in Englands midfield. I enjoyed seeing the bald fraud losing it with Henderson at the final whistle too!! What a horrid, bad loser he is. When are we going to hear about Citys charges?
It’s ok . We would have won had this handball been given .. https://x.com/david_wfc/status/1923657494754361628
I must admit I’m annoyed Palace won but there’s no real rivalry between the two so there’s no reason to dislike the fact they won other than jealousy and no more reason than to be annoyed if Brentford or Bournemouth got a European spot. After 13 consecutive seasons in the top flight (including next one), a record in the modern footballing era only equalled by Fulham (a bigger club) and only beaten by the established big guns like the Manchester, Liverpool and north London clubs, Villa and Chelsea, with rarely the threat of relegation, I suppose it was inevitable they’d win their first major trophy sooner or later.
And that was only a few minutes after Pereyra had not converted the one-on-one…if only it had been Pereyra passing to GD instead of vice-versa. Then we conceded 2 pretty poor goals. What could Garcia have done then? Sit back and take the 0-2 or try to attack and get back into it? He did the latter hence the 0-6. Mind you, I’m not sure he had much of a ‘plan B’ after his unusual 4-2-2-2 had been sussed out.
Looks like Palace might potentially not get their European tour now thanks to John Textor and his part co ownership of them along with Lyon .
Pretty classless of Forest to stick their nose into this just on the off chance of being elevated from the UEFA Conference League into the Europa League.
With this and their owners antics on the pitch with Nuno they are fast becoming a very unlikeable club.
Conflicted about this. On one hand it would be ******* hilarious. On the other hand we would be deprived of seeing their pathetic ultras take a historic beating on the majestic streets of Eastern Europe. Tough call for Uefa.
