The master of expansive, atmospheric electronic music that still sounds years beyond the technology of the time. RIP.
RIP. A man ahead of his time, and sadly lost by many. Thoughts to all his close family and friends. x
The music is another character in the film. It underpins the emotional setting of every scene. Ridley Scott invited Vangelis to create the score having only worked with him once prior for a short perfume advertisement.
Was also in Greek prog legends, Aphrodite’s Child with Demis Roussos. This absolute corker is probably their best known number.
Hope he has found his way into the cosmos. RIP. This is Scott's first collaboration with Vangelis. Brings to mind several films that feature swimming pools rather prominently. La Piscine, Swimming Pool and The Swimmer.
Am I right in thinking Chariots of Fire was played regularly at Vicarage Road in the 80s before matches? It’s one of my earliest memories (except if I’ve made it up of course). Either way, would love it if they did it now, love that tune.
