******* Sky and their satellites.
lol did everyone hear gary Neville swear at the stretcher barers? lol 'hurry the **** up'
Curse the new fangled technology of digital substitution boards
haha I loved the commentators, there was nothing wrong with the old way! they have to get computers involved in everything now.
the swiss were all over us in this second half.
penalty all day long, what was stuart pearce doing with his hands there.
Regardless of the ref that wouldn’t have escaped VAR in this day and age
Not a great start.
Have to beat the Scots.
Lucky to get a draw there. Big mistake taking Macmanaman off. Will need to improve to get past the plucky Scots.
the swiss deserved the draw there, they were much better than us in the second half. we need to improve against the scots if we want to progress.
Tomorrows schedule for anyone who is going to follow along:
Spain v Bulgaria - 1pm
Germany v Czech Republic - 4pm
Denmark v Portugal - 7pm
I think I will probably watch the germany vs Czech republic game, should be a cracker on paper.
" broadcast at exactly the same time as it happens, rather than being recorded first"
I’ve heard good things about the lad Poborsky
Well you learn something new every day
Shows how much the handball interpretation has changed over the years. Everyone universally saying it was a dodgy pen, there is no way VAR wouldn’t overrule that 100 times out of 100 now if the ref didn’t give it anyway.
You're not trying to tell me that those "live" games on a Sunday afternoon, pre CV19, were actually happening at the same time. Actually as I was watching, but at the actual grounds ?
They had a pretty decent team back in the day. Big Jan Koller, Skuhravy before him in the same role. Smicer, Nedved and the experienced Kadlec. All been a bit of a slide since then with Slovakia upstaging them in the last few tournaments. The youth team reached the 2007 u20 final in Canada but never amounted to much in senior terms. Jankto is probably their best player but the rest of the team is nothing remarkable.
Genuinely forgot the Germans had a striker called Kuntz.
Only the England games are on itv 4, the rest are on itv hub
He's probably the only truly mercurial creative talent England have ever had. We've had good players here and there, but Gascoigne is one of those who could have played for Brazil if he'd been born there. If he had had the mental part right, I suspect he'd have achieved even more in the game, but alas, I think he was always fighting against the demons that have made him a shadow of a man.
Have you seen the documentary about him on Netflix? I saw it quite a while back, very interesting.
Portugal had a very good team - really did under perform in that era.
Mind you Ronaldo wasn't around.
So many bookings going on - bet most players must have been suspended at some point!
When Gascoigne needed good people around him, he unfortunately chose Chris Evans and Danny Baker
You wonder how great a player he may have become if he’d ended up at Utd under Ferguson.
im not surprised though, in the games I’ve watched so far they are absolutely flying into challenges. In the Germany Czech Republic group game I’m amazed a couple of the Germans didn’t get sent off. It’s like they were trying the hospitalise some of the Czechs!
completely agree, he was just phenomenal. So comfortable on the ball. The rabona in the Switzerland game just oozes quality.
Read that the UEFA head of the time told players to clam down .
Ofcouse think they all just blamed the officials accusing them of being over zealous .
I was relatively young at the time so it’s easy to forget just how ridiculously talented he was:
Had the pleasure of meeting him once on a golf in course in Dorset. Genuinely nice bloke, well I think he was as I couldn't understand a blooming word he said
The best English player I've ever seen. Very few players that are worth the entrance fee alone but he is one
Harsh on Geoff Thomas.
Big kit clash in the Netherlands v Swiss game .
Kits made by Lotto too.
Blast from the past ..
Watching that Vid Gazza was deceptively quick as well (at least in his early days) seems to glide pass defenders with ease.
I’m looking forward to England Scotland tomorrow. Last time I watched that game I was seven years old! Starts at 7pm Sunday evening ITV 4 for anybody interested.
Gazza goal and all that!
Probably the first moment of high quality in the whole tournament.
3 Mexican waves in the first half of the France v Spain game.
Commentators weren't impressed !
Free kicks are useless - it's ike watching us this season.
Due to start shortly, interesting watching the pre game coverage at the time, talking about the demands of dealing with the English press. Some things never change!
And that was before social media and phone cameras!
