I may be missing some "ironic" type posts here, but are people already seriously moaning that we haven't signed a significant striker when it's the 6th June and making assumptions on how the season is going to pan out based on that ? The season doesn't start for 2 months and the transfer window doesn't close for another month after that. I'm not saying we will manage it, but I would rather we took a bit of time and made a decent signing if we can.
I think it's more based on the fact that Gino seems to refuse to invest and recruited absolute crap in Manaj, Bayo and Davis last season.
Squad need a lot of overhaul. Even ignoring Ismael needing players for his system the squad is pretty bare after loans expire and (please god) contracts expire also. It’s a huge job imo so one would have hoped for some inklings of activity but it seems very quiet so far. Norwich are being proactive after their similar season. I think next season will be very tough indeed. As for waiting, we get this every summer. Last year it was “of course Pozzo will buy a RWB there is still a month till window shuts. He’s not stupid / Duxbury told me when hugging we are getting a RWB” etc. Oh. It really is just Gaspar. To be honest the most obvious answer is probably the correct one. Pozzo activity has left us broke and we will have to make do with what we can find once other clubs are finished.
All of which maybe valid points but whatever has happened or not happened in previous pre-seasons, with 3 months to go , it is way to early to judge anything
