I'd take him too, things are that desperate upfront if Raj isn't coming back ! Could be his season. Just like a new signing.
The Saudi league is at their limit for overseas players - and the little wiggle room they open up will be for the likes of Casemiro etc who have the gravitas to promote the league and legitimise the country. Maybe Dennis gets interest from the Middle East (Qatar, UAE) but I’d be amazed if any Saudi club used one of their slots on him.
Who knows what Gino/has/might’ve negotiated. Genuinely no idea. Maybe they still owe us for the initial transfer which might make it easier to do a deal - but that would require Gino to manoeuvre a bit as I suspect we taken a loan against the initial transfer fee and Forest will have been paying that back.
There’s still one more fixture for us to waste before we do our last minute “business” and the window “slams” shut.
Usually Macquarie name the players whose fees their loans are secured against and I don't think I've seen a Dennis one. Happy to be corrected though.
We did borrow against the £9m owed by Forest in Nov 22. The last payment was due in Nov 24 so nothing left now
I mean I don't mind the idea of having him back for a third spell, but it's gloriously unimaginative and in all likelihood doomed to mediocrity. Doumbia and Rajovic to lead the line next year with Bayo loaned back in a late deal on Jan 30th 2026.
Hard to say. I don't think the head coach of the club know's what's happening with transfers and any movement (if any) is in a very small circle of people - so there's very little, if any, information trickling downstream. Not sure that will change between now and deadline day to be honest but will try and give info if I get any . I know TC had a lost of 5 targets and they were passed to the people dealing with things. If they are being listened to or ignored, I've no idea. And I don't think even TC knows.
Sign as opposed to loan? A fit Dennis on one wing and Baah on the other would be a terrifying experience for opposing defences.
Ideally sign would love to see what he could do in the championship with a full pr-season behind him.
Personally one of my favourite players in recent years. Obviously could potentially be a problem in the dressing room but if we can get him fit and firing he could be a real menace at this level.
I think this would be a mistake and I don’t think Cleverley really wants him Hence why it’ll probably happen
He's better than Jebbison and Bayo combined. Yes he's not an out-and-out striker but he can play there and can score goals. Possible opportunity to have him and Doumbia as a front two could also be an option - but I'm getting way ahead of myself here. All this hype and we know what will happen...
Cleverly doesn't have a say in who comes and who goes. That much is clear from the recent quotes in the press. If Dennis is available and Pozzo thinks he can make a profit on him, sure he'll sign him. The big question is if he's willing to risk it. Dennis will surely want at least £30k per week even if he got a settlement from Forest. That's £1.5m per year. What are the odds that someone will buy him from us in the future? Not great, I would say, but on the other hand if he gets back to his old self he could be worth £10m and we know Gino likes to play at the casino...
Do you think the Jebbison loan not working out which Tom really wanted to happen has probably harmed his cause as well although still no excuse to not get anyone in.
Yeah, I argued in the Jebbison thread at the time that that loan deal was a massive gamble from TC and Duxbury because Gino would have hated it. Gino likes to gamble, he doesn't like to throw money away, especially now that we are in a dire financial state. There's no potential gain to loaning a Bournemouth youth striker with no option to buy and pay his wages and a loan fee. My guess is that Duxbury on behalf of Tom convinced Gino and Nani that loaning Jebbison would substantially increase our chances of getting to the play offs, and that backfired massively. Tom's latest statement about working with what he's got and leaving the recruitment to the sporting director says it all, really.
Cleverley wanted Jebbison and thought he was a sensible signing. I don't think we should lose too much sleep if he's not having much input on recruitment.
Yes he was a mistake, a big one I may add but everyone makes mistakes. We can't judge him on him and Sissoko.
Because it didn't work out with Jebbison? He got it wrong, doesn't mean he won't be right in the future. Everybody gets things like this wrong, absolutely everybody. I would rather they listened to Clevs who has played at the very top level than somebody like Nani or Pozzo or Duxbury
He was signed with the right intentions - it just didn't work out. Others like Ake and Chalobah and even Clevs did. Better managers than him have got signings wrong, and our wretched owner and sporting director have got more than a few wrong.
Theres also no chance TC went off and finalised the Jebbison deal on his own. It will have been approved by his bosses and they’d have sorted the details.
I've always been of the opinion that for every good signing there are 2 or 3 duds. The problem is spend the budget on 2 players means you might get just the duds. I'd much rather get six 500k players in and accept 4 will flop than get two 1.5m players in.
