Sign a player we sold for £20m two years ago for free? Errrr yes. Be stupid not to try, this is where he wants to be.
Yep, clearly his relatively mediocre showing previously was all part of the master plan to sign him for free on a 5 year contract now, before reverting to his true ace self.
Hell yes, get him back, last time he wasn't match fit, and we were way too slow breaking forward, so he didn't have a chance to play his game. The players we currently have would really suit his style of play.
Didn't he take a massive pay cut last time he was here? All this player sales money we have been stashing away must be burning a hole in the pocket.
Can any of our current strikers score a goal like this one? Of course they can't - get him in!! Worth noting that despite being unfit last time, he still outscored Bayo and Raj (4 goals v 1 and 2).
I think if we can get him fit he will be an asset in the Championship, he clearly wasn't fit last season and that showed - i'd sign him
I'll buck the trend here, one good half a season, very greedy, doesn't seem to be a great team player. Not keen.
Yes, very greedy. Definitely the reason we struggled was because he didn't pass to Rajovic more. It seems much more sensible to stick with Bayo and Jebbison this season.
He's better than what we have I grant you but so are most professional footballers. Just don't think he's the answer
I don’t think anyone is asking for £20m now. If his contract is cancelled then he’s free. I presume that Gino went silent on Forest’s demands so that they would have to just cut their losses like this. Once the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed then Pozzo swoops… I hope. BRING HIM HOME.
We’re a bog standard championship team now, all of our players are flawed, and if they aren’t they’ll be sold in the very next window anyway. His selfishness actually used to annoy me more in the Premier League, as there was a lot more at stake, but now we’re a crap team who the hell cares. We can’t expect or obtain perfect players anymore, so why not at least have some entertainment if we can and accept the flaws. What do we get with Bayo exactly?
I actually think Bayo and Dennis could work well together. Bayo doing the hard graft with Dennis supplying the coup de grace.
From everything I heard in the summer, I’d be amazed if Cleverley allowed Dennis anywhere near the squad now. I do think all the talk of a totally rotten attitude are overblown - and there are genuinely people at the club who do say good things about him. I think the overriding complaint about him is he was divisive in the sense that he was a key figure in forming cliques in the dressing room and those cliques always running people up the wrong way. TDB and Kone are two that I know fell under his influence. And he was often found strolling onto the training pitches with cups of coffee, late for meetings etc. If you get him back, get him fit and get him motivated, then I’d be for it. I just don’t see that happening.
One thing I do like, and always have liked about Dennis is his love-in for Watford. Even when he was playing for other sides he used to post videos of watching our games etc. He's always said he enjoyed playing for us, and yes last season's "loan" was a waste of his and our time as he was unfit. I know the chances of us getting him back for a third time are very, very slim but I am coming around to the idea more than when I posted that article. Can we give Forest Bayo in a swap? Surely they would be happy to have "the greatest striker in history" playing for them.
If he causes the team spirit to be broken / damaged, then I wouldn’t want him. But that aside, surely he’d play one of the 2 number 10 roles wouldn’t he? Best when dribbling with the ball, cutting inside etc. So not really what we need? But still a very good player if fit and motivated.
Clearly, he was not got the last time he was here. But even unfit Dennis was still better than a fully fit Bayo and Jebbison. I also think he would do better in this team as we break a lot faster.
We were just outside the playoffs when Dennis joined last time. Maybe it’s purely a coincidence that we dropped like a stone after that and nearly went down. On the other hand….
Realistically, on a free transfer he is going to be a very attractive option for many clubs higher up the pyramid all over Europe. It's just not going to happen IMO
I would agree it very likely won’t happen but not for that reason, we still got him on loan last season and the same principle would’ve applied then if not more so with his stock a bit higher.
