Rennes aren't exactly massive. Plus they play in a farmers league. How will hold up to the scrutiny of a Leeds or Utd fan base week in week out? Dennis thinks he's big time, and wouldn't give a fark what a fan base thinks of him
I dont think the sale for 20m is really the issue here. Its the knowledge that the replacements brought in for him are ******* ***** and that we will piss any proceeds from the sale up the wall on Mogi Bayat dross. Dennis has also already proven himself at a higher level, unlike either Danjuma or Bowen.
Spot on. Sarr has proved he can knuckle down but he still frustrates me. As for Dennis for me he's far too predictable and isn't a team player that is desperately needed. Still reckon both will go because it's not looking like Edwards is going to change formation to incorporate them both. It does or will leave us lacking pace up top though.
We could service as we had prem league income. In future the amount of debt will need to be bought down as the tv money we secure it against and use to service it will reduce dramatically. At some point the debt will need to be paid down and we wont be able to do that through trading profits on the new lower income so major asset sales are the only option. If it was a £5-10m debt it would be less of an issue. Perhaps the Pozzos would be prepared to put in another £50m ?
I'd happily sell both of them. If they're still here when the window shuts we'll see the worst of them. Dennis already started on Monday night with a selfish and truly dreadful performance.
No we don't need to sell this summer as long as we can be sure we are promoted this season or can sell them for c£40m next summer.
All successful strikers are selfish. Any player who score 10 goals in the Premier for a crap side is NOT dreadful. He always appears to put an effort in unlike Sarr and if he stays fit would guarantee us 20 goals. Sarr is a luxury who doesn't have the degree of end product his ability should have and would be a much smaller loss than Dennis would be.
Nottingham Forest offer £20m for Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis | Sport | The Times Forest have offered £20m plus £5m in add-ons. Think this one is fast moving and sounds about right in terms of I would expect the deal structure to be.
I think we are going to have to take this aren't we realistically ? 2 games no goals or assists so far. Extrapolate that over the season and we get 0 over 46 games. Get rid.
Why go to Forest though. If I’m Dennis, unless they are offering me a sizeable contract, I would rather wait to see what else comes along. Even if that means staying at Watford. High probability Forest get relegated, so next season he’s back playing championship football. Seems a strange move for him. Forest have been out of the “big time” for 24 years. They looked horrific against Newcastle. On paper Watford have been a much more successful club over the past decade. Unless he’s motivated by money, if I’m him, I’m rejecting Forest.
got to be honest i would be thinking the same thing, it would be a very short term move. i expect forest to be rock bottom at christmas.
Go to Forest and get assurances you can leave if relegated. If he stayed with us 1/ we may not promoted 2/ If we did we are very likely to be relegated.
We have to remember that footballers are young and a year seems a long time to them. I would say they rarely think more than a season ahead. If Dennis sees a season of Championship football stretching out in front of him and then gets the offer of PL football at a relegation-threatened club it will seem attractive. If the worst came to the worst why wouldn't he expect to move on again next summer?
History has shown that the vast majority of players would rather play in the PL/top leagues and worry about what happens after that later on. Whatever happens if he stays with us he’s guaranteed a season of Championship football.
Dennis is sold: "Well, we were always going to lose one of him and Sarr" Sarr is then also sold: "Well, he was coming into the last year of his contract and Gino managed to get a decent price for him, which we can re-invest in the squad". Money is not reinvested into the squad/we spend it on a couple of Mogi Bayat duds who are either **** or never play: *tumbleweed* Like cogwork. I'm sure Cathcart is already being briefed on his upcoming interview with Andrew French where he says that they were both bad apples and didn't want to be here.
True - with hindsight sold him last year, after two Premier Leagueb games he had one goal and one assist. Over a season that would have been 19 goals and 19 assists We could have got £60 million for him.
IF, and I accept it’s a big if, we sell Dennis and it allows us to bring in a proper defender, and a decent forward option, I think we come out better prepared to make a run at promotion. It’s a tough balancing act, but with so many clear weaknesses, I’d be okay with giving up Dennis to improve other areas of the team. You just can’t trust our transfer decision making though. We know what Dennis offers, both good and bad. If there was any faith in Pozzbury to deliver replacements that fill the gaping holes in our squad, I’d do the Dennis deal without a second through. We can’t trust them though. We line up with Cathcart and Kabasele 4 years after their sell-by date had expired ffs.
We simply must keep Sarr as he is on course for 23 goals, 23 assists and to win and then miss 23 penalties.
2 games in... Dennis - no goals. Dreadful against West Brom Sarr - 1 assist and 1 goal. Early days but I'd rather have kept Sarr out of the two.
Fair to a degree and I’m probably more on your side of thinking but then the simple counter argument is, why can’t the same people who found Dennis for £3m and is now valued at £20m, the same Dennis that we all seemingly think so highly of, the same Dennis we think will walk this league, do it again?
Because they also found Kayembe, Samir, King, Tufan, Rose, Pussetto, Bayo, Fletcher etc. For every Richarlison and Dennis there 9 or 10 absolutely ***** players.
Sarr has had two moments of quality but has done little else. Dennis was brilliant in the first game and then genuinely awful in the second. On the basis of my viewing them over the last few seasons rather than just two games, I would far rather have Dennis than Sarr.
Belgian media (HLN?) claiming it’s agreed at £22m, with Brugge getting 10%. Not bad, so long as that’s £22m guaranteed - not £16m + £6m in extras under certain conditions. In fact I’d hope there are add-ons, but in addition to the £22m. And a sell-on fee of our own. He’s definitely PL quality in my opinion. Will join someone like Villa or Leicester in a year or two (depending whether Forest stay up) - someone who’s pushing for Europa League.
