Looking at the rest of the story it seems likely that it's because they're in talks to sign Maxwell Cornet instead (who has a £17.5mil release clause). In some ways that's good for us as Cornet is the only other remaining player left in the division who's close in ability to Dennis and Sarr.
Just that David Ornstein in the Athletic posted an hour ago that: "Everton are working on a deal to sign Maxwel Cornet from Burnley, The Athletic understands. The two clubs are believed to be in contact and although there is not yet an agreement, discussions continue. It is believed there is also interest in Cornet from other clubs but, as things stand, Goodison Park appears the most likely destination for the 25-year-old." https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1547935460604801029?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1547935460604801029|twgr^|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-transfer-news-live-cornet-24495043
Tell that to David Ornstein and The Athletic then. Newcastle's priorities this window are a right winger, and another CF to rotate with Callum Wilson. Cornet isn't really either of those; he could perhaps play as a right-winger, but has mostly been used on the left in his recent career.
If I did, he would most likely create another article out of it. Breaking: Newcastle interested in Cornet. A source close to the deal just made me aware via a Twitter message that Newcastle are in pole position to sign Cornet.
Will stay, absolutely roast the Championship, while we keep Dennis and Sarr wrapped in cotton wool to preserve their value
We'll make the money back on continually loaning both to Udinese until their contracts run out, The Pozzo Way
Lol, that's obviously a lie - you even created a fake ITK Watford twitter account a year or so ago called 'King_Of_Watford': https://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/do-you-still-have-faith-in-gino.57894/page-10#post-2962164
So you regularly check football stories on twitter, and even went to the effort of making a spoof account, but you "don't have twitter" or any regular account? Riiiiiiiiggghtttt..........
I’d sell Okoye, Bachmann, and Dahlberg. Use the money to buy a proper defensive midfielder and at least one young, competent central defender who could play every week. Then I’d sign lowerrous to play in goal. Not a single ******* thing is getting past him. He’d catch the lot.
More like initial instalment was too small. And doubts over whether he was their real target. Think they perhaps have/are using Dennis to flush out other targets. I also think, at last, Everton are actually being sensible about what they can afford.
I said it before somewhere in this thread fairly on but I think Dennis will stay. He is on a good deal for us and I don’t think he is the sort to down tools. Give us one year Emmanuel and if you are not promoted again with us then go with our blessing.
With Dennis we’ve still got him for 4 years, so no pressure to sell. Sarr is a risk though, unless he extends his contract with us.
I appreciate you have the word optimistic in your name, but Dennis is quite an erratic character who once kicked off over not getting a certain seat on the team bus. I’m not saying he is the type to down tools, but of all the players in our squad I think he’s the clearly the most unpredictable. Nobody can actually say with any confidence he’s not the type to down tools, out of all the players in our squad I’d be least confident about saying he’s not the type to down tools. He could react in 100 different ways based on his career to date.
Does it mean as much as an alleged incident on a team bus, at a different club, in a different country 2 years ago?
Reading the initial reactions to the signing of Dennis is a laugh given that he turned out to be one of our best signings of recent times. Predictable negativity that is conveniently forgotten.
It's either they are worried about his attitude or they have a plan to get him cheap or loan him on the last day of the transfer window. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
If Dennis stays, promotion is certain. Cant see him scoring less than 20 goals (penalty not included) Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
From the moment it became official, I new we were getting a top player. Though I expected more than the 10 goals he scored but then, the club should take the blame for that. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
He's got 4 years left on his contract I think? Could still make good money by selling him in a couple of years. Sarr on the other hand...
