As much as he loves the club, he’s got kids and I very much doubt he’s done all the extensive touring he’s been doing for the past few years so that his fortune could be wazzed away paying footballers wages.

Best hope is if he could persuade some sort of consortium of showbiz mates so he’s not all in himself, involving the likes of Beckham etc, although he seems happy with his Miami venture.

Spot on, Elton seems to provide what we lack ... real leadership!

Last night was fantastic - very envious of those waiting for Elton to come on stage in about 15 mins!

Same! I did think about taking my wife tonight and getting one of those late release tickets - but last night was such a good memory so thought I’d leave it! Plus it being about £300 for 2 tickets too helped.

Still, very envious of those getting to watch it right now!

My four ladies are there tonight. After reading the reviews today they were bouncing on the way to the Vic. It's good to have a bit of insider knowledge regarding pick up spots!

The Krispe Kreme/Screwfix Unit on Thomas Sawyer Way. Not too far to walk to from the Rookery and a speedy exit on to the M1 Link Road for points North and to Bushey/Stanmore or via Deacons Hill and Hampermill Lane toward Northwood and Ricky.

Apparently in tonight’s speech about the club, Elton paid tribute to GT and then vowed to ‘get my hands dirty again’ when his tour is over.

I went tonight - was ok at the start, went very dull in the middle then finished off really well. Enjoyable but if you offered me a free ticket to see him again tomorrow night (I know) i prob wouldnt bother

I really hate Ray Cooper - he ******* milked it like we had come to see him

That would be brilliant to have him back on the board, properly involved on the inside, if that’s what he’s meaning.

I hope he gets more involved. Said it earlier today before @a19tgg crushed the dream, but the dream is alive again after tonight. The more Elton gets involved the better.

Please wash your mouth out! Ray Cooper was actually born in Watford!, also a great musician and chap!

I know who he is but he still wanted it to be all about him

  20. He was brilliant. He's earned the right to show off a bit. The only duff thing tonight was Jive Bunny does Elton - that abomination with Dua Lipa.

Pleased to see Border Song and Levon getting an outing. But... the number of people leaving during GYBR; for **** sake.

Brilliant musician integral to the band and invited by Elton John to take the spotlight by way of thanks is criticized by daft troll.

This is great to hear. I was wondering if I was a Watford supporter with £400m in the bank (I'm 50% of that statement), what would I do. Would I want to plough my lifetime's money into the pocket of a mercenary footballer?....not a chance, but I would like to do some legacy stuff. Things like increasing the capacity of the SEJ stand and rebuilding the GT stand. Also, I would like to pay for the academy and upgrade it to a Cat One level academy. These things would leave a legacy and will create players for the future. This is where I'd put my money, if I wanted to do something beneficial for the club, which would still be there long after I'm gone.

Just a different opinion no trolling. Charlie Watts was a brilliant musician but he never tried to take over the show

I’m not a big music lover and I tend to listen to whatever is on the radio so I have no particular devotion to live music, but the show last night blew my socks off. EJ and all of the band were incredible showmen. Brilliant talent but they made it look effortless. The best part was that each and every one of them looked like they were living their dream and enjoying every second of it. It is always excellent to see people so talented and having so much fun no matter what the profession. Nobody was trying to steal the show in my view – they were just having bundles of fun and providing brilliant entertainment with it.

It was also well organised which was a surprise. The queue for drinks was big when we got in the ground just before 7 but I nipped down for a pint (UGT) at about 7:30 and I was served immediately so I was back in my seat in two minutes. The stewarding was also a world away from football – they were pleasant and didn’t treat people like dirt which made a refreshing change.

It was nice to hear EJ give a nod of respect to the great GT and also good to hear he is looking to get back involved in some capacity.

Due to lockdown we’ve effectively watched two relegation seasons on the bounce and going to the Vic has been miserable, so it was really nice to be there last night and enjoy being there. It is a special place when the atmosphere is good.

One of the best nights I’ve ever had at the Vic – truly excellent.
