So they stuck with it which is good to hear, I’m guessing from what you’ve said then that people wanted to sing along? I did think last week it was an odd version they played.
The whole thing was a bit cringeworthy. Didn't sound like many people sang, it was basically a stadium listening to an Elton live track just before kick off.
Yellow Submarine tune with the following lyrics: In the town where I was born, There is a team they call the Horns, And they play in yellow and black, Buzzing hornets, On the attack (on the attack) Chorus We all live for a yellow football team, A yellow football, a yellow football team, We all live for a yellow football team, A yellow football, a yellow football team. And at the helm is Valerien, A better man there cannot be, He is brave and he is bold, As he leads, The boys in gold (boys in gold) Chorus We all live for a yellow football team, A yellow football, a yellow football team, We all live for a yellow football team, A yellow football, a yellow football team. Optional 3rd stanza (*) And the Horns are all aboard Many more of them live next door And the band begins to play. De de de de de de de de da..... [Stomp] Repeat Chorus (*) stanza, not a verse mind you, cos I did A level English
I prefer the original. ‘We all live in a yellow submarine’ followed by ‘we all p155 in a black and white pot’ (before they added that hideous orange to their kit).
Impressive nostalgia Mr S63. But wouldn't that just be another anti scum rather than a club song. Either way, and whatever the lyrics, yellow submarine lends itself much better to a football anthem than yawnmongers's Yellow which always sounds embarrassing and EJ sadly doesn't work. To me it's an obvious choice that could be our unique song. But I realise I'm in a minority of 1 here and my attempts to sing it have at best had 1 person try to join in at Cardiff for the Leeds play off.
Indeed it could, but I think that would perversely boost their ego and make them seem more important than they are. I always found it amusing when I heard the scum on telly singing about their hatred of us. A club song should be about us rather than scum.
Might be wrong but sounded on the TV that they changed the song to the original version which is good. All set up for the fans to belt out the end of the chorus and if it happens and catches on it’ll be really good in my opinion. However, doesn’t sound like many have cottoned onto this yet, and are just reverting to the usual few seconds of ‘come on’ or whatever else they shout at kick off.
Yes, definitely the original version now. I quite like it but we can't leave it until the ball is already rolling. Bit like our play, good idea, almost there but not quite!
Yeah maybe the fans bit to end just as we kick off. But hopefully one way or another the club persevere with it.
Bit pointless trying anything when the Rookery is like a library every game. The only noise is the booing at half time and full time if we aren’t winning.
The timing is just poor, imo. Has anyone got any insight as to how it works at Liverpool, or Stoke? Is the music still playing 10 seconds into the match for them? It's enough time for Shane Long to score ffs
Would be easier to get the timing right if we didn't have to have the weekly virtue signalling minute before every kick off.
Yes it is building. Will work very well when it really takes off. Not seen much from the 1881 lot who really should be grabbing this opportunity and leading with it. Think RM has been quiet of late hope all is ok with him.
So four games and two versions of the song in and they still can't get it right. It's just comm0n sense that they should play the 'I hope you don't mind that I put down in words' bit just before the whistle for kick off then kill the music and let the fans sing the 'How wonderful life is...' bit acapella. Was incredibly weird (and possibly against the rules?) that they had music blaring a good 10 seconds into the game on Saturday.
Kept expecting it to stop and it...didn't. I like though, I hope they persist with it. These things take years to take off properly, so I hope they stick with it. Unrelated, but why doesn't anyone just shout Yellows anymore? Always enjoyed that, seems to have dropped out of fashion.
Starting to build up more each game . we have to remember these things take time , Walk On and other club anthems have built up over decades .
