He certainly looks like a man that isn't afraid to get kicked in the face. As has been mentioned, handball players are insane so I have high hopes for this guy.
I think we all know by now it really doesn't matter. No one at this club is here for any longer than it suits Pozzo (and Bayat) for them to remain.
To be honest, all our players are only ever an arm's length away from a move to Udinese, so this wouldn't surprise me. 'Permanent transfer' means nothing between the two clubs.
National League would be better than nothing, it’s probably more or less on a par with the level he was playing at earlier in the season
Just looked at his YT promo video: Big, brave, ugly. His team-mates seem to know to get out of his way when he comes off his line. All his actions look inelegant but the ball doesn't go in the net. Looks to have a good , long, straight kick. I'm already a fan.
Turns out we made a loan offer for him but was rejected as we weren’t willing to cover enough of his wages. Shock.
I would not be surprised if the returning to Udinese in the Summer is spot on. The permanent transfer was probably only done on paper to get around the maximum loans from.one club rule. So come next season, he will either be loaned back to Udinese, or even sold back to them.
I am surprised he going MOTM though. Obviously he positioned himself well, but the two saves were very basic and poor finishing more than anything else in my opinion.
Looked confident in the box and came and claimed when he had to. One minor error where he danged his arm out and gifted them a corner kick. Had no chance with either goal but they were more on the people in front of him than bad positioning. Certainly stood up to Sunderland's late chances.
At times I only has one eye on the game. What was Deeney going on about at the end about him shanking the ball out?
Sunderland put in a nothing cross that was going out for a goal kick but he put his arm out and conceded a needless corner.
He also was unconvincing for a Sunderland cross in the first half (he messed up his punch, when he should have caught it). Still, certainly no worse than Bachmann
Deeney was talking rubbish because of his mates Daniel and Jonathan. This guy didn’t get everything right but he’s an improvement. Mark my words.
For a debut in goal behind our kamikaze defence, away to an unbeaten team on a very cold February day, I think he was pretty good!
He also said how well he did ‘other than the shanked clearances’, which they joked about and even Superclevz smiled. But yes, much better than Bachmann. But a mannequin would be.
