Cannot keep sacking managers surely ?

Maybe look at the players and and other areas in the club .

He's signed his own death warrant by towing the party line and publicly deflecting the blame from the hierarchy unfortunately.

Expect the output of the usual lot on Twitter who were heralding him as 'a breath of fresh air' and 'the new GT' about a month ago to start changing in tone very soon.

  5. I agree that we can't keep sacking managers and maybe the hire and fire policy means players don't respect the manager thinking he'll be gone soon, and the only way to change that mentality is to keep the manager through this god awful spell.

On the other hand you can blame lack of players in the right area and bot being backed by the board but by God, no manager should have this much of a struggle with this bunch of players at their disposal.

They're a headless mess out there and that lies at the feet of the manager.

Edit: I appreciate this sounds completely contradictory.

    Yes.

Players not playing for him, too conservative with his tactical approach and subs, too happy to cover up for a summer of rancid recruitment. We’ve been putting in incoherent performances for several games now and his post-match appraisals don’t match what we’re all seeing.

    Yeah he’s got to go.

    1 win in 7.

    Poor game management
    Poor tactical decisions
    Poor team selections.

It’s not good enough. We’ve made very average/poor teams look like Brazil. Blackburn have lost 4 of their last 5.

True it is very disjointed and seem to he no consistent pattern to our play .

Having 2 players injured a game doesn’t help.

Were Sarr and Ngakia ever fully fit ?

It's ludicrous to keep sacking coaches.
However what's more ludicrous is Pozzo's recruitment,of managers and players.
    Absolute **** show.
Another punt, just an English one this time for variety.

Yeah, regardless of how overrated and unbalanced this squad is and the fact this club has far, far bigger problems, he's clearly a clueless dud.

Will be gone in the next two months.

Doesn't matter what manager is in charge. Our recruitment over the last few years has left us with a terribly **** and unbalanced squad. Blame lies firmly with Pozzo and Dux. How many managers do we have to go through before we realise they are the problem?

There's no point sacking him. In fact I think he's doing as well as any manager we would likely replace him with.

We are relying on Pedro and Sarr to come up with a bit of magic every game. At no point this year apart from Rotherham away have we actually been in control of a game. We have defenders who should have been moved om years ago, and not one creative ball playing CM. I know Louza is returning soon but we cant pin our hopes on one player ffs.

    It's a mess.

Until Pizza and Fuxbury are removed nothing changes. PR spin will come out in force. And then Pizza will continue to play his FM game which doesn't work in the real world. Absolute pair of *****s those two. The devil's disciples. GT would have slung most of these players, the hierarchy and backroom staff into a pit. Not good enough he would have said.

I really do think a decent manager could get a tune out of our squad. What’s Colin up to, surely we could pay him more than Talksport do?

ONLY if you could see signs of improvement.

We are regressing very quickly. Not to mention he insists on playing the same dog sh*t system with players out of position! That's on him, no one else!

Out of his depth I am afraid.

I like Rob and a lot of this is not his fault. I'd be sad to see him go, he gets it and for me personally makes me feel valued as a fan. However, whilst I say a lot of it is not his fault, I do think there's a more experienced manager out there who can get a tune out of this squad because I don't think it's impossible.

I do partly agree. My concern is how slow we started, which is a repeat of Rotherham - which is on him. He comes across as a bit of a nice guy. Unless there is a quick improvement he will be gone.

I don't know what to make of the players.
Anyone who's been with us longer than two seasons must have lost count of the coaches' names and sequence.
It's like trying to name ten prime ministers before Thatcher, your mind gets confused.
Pozzo takes the can for this and Edwards, seemingly a decent man, will toddle off ,pay off firmly in hand.
    Utterly shambolic.
    SEJ better get back pronto.

That consortium SEJ is arranging cannot come soon enough. We need proper football people back at the club who know what they are doing. Not these shysters. Back in the day when you had GT and Bertie Mee and others. Wise scouts too. Not Pizza playing FM manager.

Papa Pozzo is the business/football man - Gino is the lost boy trying to play like Papa - but has nothing. Dux is his lapdog and Mogi is his buddy. What a crap show.

    This is extremely worrying.
The results so far have papered over the cracks in the system, plan or pair of slightly iffy oven gloves that RE is using.
I genuinely like what I've seen of Edwards as a man but then again I like porridge and I wouldn't want that as a coach.

I have not met him, so I don’t know if I like him as a person. At the moment though I don’t see much to like about him a s a professional football manager/head coach. Looking at last 11 games at Forest Green and nine with us it’s seven wins out of 20. Twenty goals scored, 22 conceded. Looks patchy at best. He seems to lack the confidence of his convictions. Too many changes. No perceivable personality or style to the teams he is putting out. Next two fixtures are probably must wins for him.

Sunderland will be his last game

I don't see the players pulling a performance out of their arse to keep him there. Realistically it had to have been working by now.

You either give him the players for the style or play the style to the players you have. Just seems like everyone is out of position and even those in position look lost.

How many games has the initial setup been so abysmal that we're switching at HT and then sticking 5 up top for the last 10-20mins? Desperate stuff.

    Agree with this 100%.

We need to stop the churn in the hope that someone can temporarily weave together the random nonsense assembled by our recruitment and stand by a coach.

The club, via Dux made a huge noise in the summer about backing Edwards as new dawn.

They haven't done so. That he was naive enough to play nice for PR doesn't change what anyone can see with their own eyes - a squad where not one player has a consistent range of passing beyond 15 yards.

Pozzo will sack him though. No matter how ludicrous that would have seemed just 5 weeks ago, Rob will be gone before the clocks go back, but then Pozzo will continue as Pozzo does and nothing will improve.

We needed to see signings made for our team. Instead we got Bayo, Manaj and Gaspar. Signed simply because they could.

Our squad relies purely on exceptional moments from one or two players. There's nothing else there.

Edwards could/should maybe eke a bit more out of them, but what next? Aren't we all piss bored of the same old managers a season? Players coming and going in and out, none of them leaving a mark? How can we support a team when the players it's made up of and the coach are ephemeral figures with no means of connecting with the fans?

I have no appetite for sacking Edwards despite his support for the owners to French. It’s pointless unless the poison is lanced above. Pretty sure he will be gone by the World Cup though unless we start to put in good performances.

Unless we go on a mad run and absolutely boss the league (can see us improving once Louza gets back, although he still doesn't solve our RWB problem), I simply think the World Cup break is too good an opportunity to miss for the Pozzos to bring in a new manager

He also doesn't solve our 'utterly rancid with no chance of functioning as a coherent team if Louza gets injured again at any point, ever' problem, either!

Louza will play a couple of games for us, get his match fitness up and look good, we'll all get excited that the corner is about to be turned then he'll get injured at the World Cup and we won't see him again.

We used to be the two fans calling for Quique’s head when everyone loved him. To me, this is highly equivalent (albeit with more dissent).

I don’t ask a lot from a Watford manager. I don’t want him to be my friend, or clap the crowd, I don’t care if he sucks up, or if he’s a right *******.

All I want is preparedness, the best tactics and formation to suit the players and adaptability when plan A isn’t working.

I know the owners have left us with ridiculous squad gaps, but I’m convinced that with a manager like Marco Silva, we’d be top of a p*sspoor league.

Our current formation doesn’t suit our players, so we play Ngakia at wing back. We start games badly and concede first. We have no control over the midfield and can’t break through lines whilst the opposition do it with ease. We constantly have an extra man in defence when we’re chasing games against bus-parkers and glaring gaps linking midfield and attack and thus don’t create clear cut chances. And we take too long to change things. Are we doing anything right?

The only thing saving Edwards is that 3 of our best 5 players couldn’t play the 90 today. Louza especially should give us a lot more control and the ability to beat the press.

I do think the players are still playing for Edwards. They did seem to press hard today, even if it was poorly coordinated and therefore completely ineffective.

But if a quality manager becomes available, I’d be delighted to switch, as Rob isn’t currently demonstrating anything that shows he deserves to manage a promotion challenging team.

And whilst I’d like to have a consistent manager, no one will benefit from keeping someone in a role they aren’t suitable for.

tl;dr Edwards looks out of his depth, but I’d give him 3 more games.
