Maybe, but every team knows his contract is up next summer, so 6 months from now he can sign for another club. A bidding war may happen, but no club will pay more than £15mil for him. Wouldn’t be surprised if we offer them £8mil in the next couple of weeks. Also wouldn’t be surprised if this a deadline deal for some club. Arsenal will want something for him, so they will sell whatever come deadline day.
I’d like us to take a gamble with this boy. His u 21 record speaks for itself think he topped Alan shearers record and became u 21 leading scorer or at least best goals to games record. If shearer is a comparison his club record at Southampton wasn’t great 118 apps 23 goals. Wasn’t until his Blackburn move he started scoring for fun. Yes I know this comparison is a bit silly as they’re years apart and the games changed so much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Granted, Shearer didn't shine immediately at Southampton, but he did score 21 (13 in Division 1) in his last season at the Dell and he was signed for a British record transfer fee by a well-monied Blackburn. Agree with your general point that Nketiah COULD come good, but at this stage in his career, he's not at the point Shearer was at that stage, and it'd still cost us a pretty penny, money that might be better off on other players
I would think it’s highly likely that Nketiah is the sort of player who would blossom away from the pressure of being at a ‘big’ club, where he needs to perform instantly in the few chances he gets in their first team.
My point is that he's done nothing much in his career so far, so he'd still be a punt rather than a guaranteed success. If he cost £5m, I'd love us to sign him (though I'm sure there'd be a long queue!), but for the £15m Arsenal are quoting? Nah
PL news @PLnews930124 Nketiah refused to renew his contract. He is attracting attention from clubs such as Watford and West Ham.Arsenal will charge him 15m for his transfer fee.#AFC #WatfordFC #WestHam #arsenal

To be honest, I’m becoming less interested in signing a central striker. If we can’t have 3+pages of debate over what side they play or drift in from, then they don’t meet this summers minimum forum requirements.
I thought you were gonna be serious there for a minute lol, but I think having a good central striker is less important than having two top level wingers on either side. We would have stayed up easily if we'd had both Deulofeu and Sarr available to us all season, and that was with probably the worst starting striker in the league that season. On that topic, I suppose the question is are Emmanuel Dennis/Cucho Hernandez gonna play for us on the left side this season, and if so, are they good enough? (Obviously I'd still like a striker, it's not as if a Deulofeu type is just gonna fall on our laps!)
