Thing is there are gurning simpletons out there right now who demanded Duxbury speak last time we were in this kind of position.
And then he did - and they lapped up every word and didn't question any of it.

I fully expect the same to happen when this relegation is confirmed.

Duxbury and Gino are probably drafting their relegation statement now. Shouldn't take them long, just a copy and paste job from two years ago.

I don't think they will say anything. I think they have been caught too many times to be able to expect any reasonable amount of fans to care what they say.

Surely there was nothing in this thread that was libellous? It was a few people who had different views on the 1881. Surely no need to delete an entire thread

 

Who threatened the forum with legal action then? Nothing wrong with disclosing that as it is factually correct.

 

Someone did say that the 1881, or certain members, were paid by the club, which I guess could be.

Personally I think the 1881 do a good job and don't think it's fair to single individuals out. However, it is frustrating that there seems to be little desire from them to question some of the big decisions that the club have made and some of the associations they have. Raising those questions is certainly shouted down by people in social media groups.

One of the 1881 made a lengthy post in the deleted thread last night, basically saying that they don't get paid by the club, they personally want Duxbury gone and they're as frustrated as we are by the whole committee situation.

They also had subtle pop at the forum, quoted Taylor Swift and repeated the invitation to discuss matters further over a beer, which they assured wasn't a threat.

That was the last post I saw as I was on my way to bed.

 

I have no idea what comment it was about - and am awaiting a response to let me know - but I was issued with a formal warning overnight by an ‘admin’ who said I had made a ‘slanderous’ comment regarding a certain group.

I certainly don’t have any recollection of anything I stated as being fact, nor about any individual and only recall stating my opinion.

I find it all very heavy handed and don’t see how any legal action could be taken at all. But I guess I understand the forum taking no risks - I just think it’s very, very silly. Especially when I have not even been told what it specifically relates to!

Thought I’d speak up to show transparency!

Trying to speak openly here without causing more bother - and as I say, I have asked what it is that I have said that has been deemed slanderous (as it’s written it would be libel not slander but hey ho, I’ll go with what I’m accused of!) - but I woke up to this accusation and resulting ‘formal warning’. I immediately asked for clarification given its a fairly big thing to be accused of. I’ve not had a reply yet with anymore info.

I’m sure by now people can figure out the group involved and whether they deem it reasonable!

 

Just logged on to see the below message from someone calling himself Nisman who clearly doesn't know the meaning of the term he is accusing me of. At no point have I posted anything that could even be perceived as slanderous or indeed libellous.

Perhaps he could kindly explain why he is aggressively messaging forummers out of the blue and threatening them without even pointing out which posts he is referring to?

Wow, the 1881 are threatening legal action against fellow Watford fans? Is that why we got a sudden influx of 1881 members yesterday?

 

This mountain-out-of-a-molehill legal threat and the Fans' Committee furore are the highlights of the season.

I might threaten them with legal action next time they sing that Watford loves the Pozzos more than they can know as that seems pretty slanderous to me.
