Few emails coming out from the club this morning Re. Covid pass checks

Apparently they’ll be doing random spot checks this weekend but still letting people in even if they can’t or don’t want to show their pass.

Whilst they do say that from Oct 1st onward showing the pass may likely become a pre-req for entry, the details also say that fans can self declare an exemption which the club/staff are legally not allowed to ask for evidence of!

Whole thing seems like a massive waste of time and a pain in the arse for everyone involved

It's going to be a trial run in advance for when it becomes compulsory. Expect long queues tomorrow though..

Though there'll only be long queues if people actually engage with it. I'm not planning to any more than I'd queue for a programme or a 50/50 ticket on my way in. Those who want to queue to present their Covid pass are welcome to of course.

And they're still only spot checks and so if they get the ratio right, which is what I guess tomorrow is about, it shouldn't add to the existing queues to get in.

Yes trial run tomorrow apparently but even the 'compulsory enforcement' isn't possible because seemingly people can self declare themselves as medically exempt and the club can't ask them to prove their exemption in any way:

I appreciate the intention behind the exercise but the restrictions within which its going to have to be implemented seems likely to add a huge load of overhead for very little benefit

With my phone ready I can show the QR screen on my NHS app, then switch to the Google Pay app to scan my ticket. I wouldn't expect queues to be much worse than the Villa match. What I do think will happen though, is that those who turn up before 2:30 are more likely to get asked to show proof of vaccine etc., whereas certainly after 2:45 they will give up.

They gave up even checking tickets 5 minutes before the Palace cup game. You genuinely could have just walked in off the street, not even a cursory glance at the phone or anything.

I can guarantee that a grand total of zero people will be checked for Covid pass.

I went to Wembley, Selhurst Park and White Hart Lane with the same rubbish being poured out by the authorities . Not a single person was checked as far as I witnessed .

I think this has now been put to bed by the Health Minister. Pity as the completely useless way Watford have used the digital technology and phone fulfilled tickets this season needed the boost of an even worse implementation of a bog standard technology to distract attention.

Yes seems to be but they could change their minds of course.

Had no issue with the tickets stuff so far but have got there quite early so it’s been quiet and they did basically let people in for the Villa game .

  14. Put to bed as in if Covid Javid says no covid passports and Spaffer says they might be a useful part of the toolkit, they can say 'we told you' whatever happens.

They realised they can save it until winter and blame it on that rather than just bringing it in for the sake of it. I bet they’re kicking themselves they even mentioned it before now.

Judging by the performance of the pitch for three of the games so far this season - I think a double injection of hallucinogenic drugs might be more appropriate before entry to future matches.
