I'm 12 miles from that right now. Funny old world.

"I had a Burrito and 6 cans of Jack Daniels and coke and then got a taxi home, slept and went to training 3 hours later.
I have so much money I made the taxi driver wait while I slept."

6 cans of Jack Daniels? Whats the total alcohol content in that? 2 Units? Practically an isotonic drink.
I would call him a light weight but there is nothing etc...

Without Troy Deeney we would not have had the success or the pivotal moments over the last 10 or so years, I think that much is evident. His leadership and guidance was clear for us all to see and at his best he bullied Championship defenders- that goal at Leeds where he outmuscles and just shrugs off Sol Bamba (RIP) like he’s nothing was a show of this. Bamba was a unit and a half so that’s impressive. In the Premier League he realised his flaws and deficiencies and worked together with Ighalo to form a very good partnership (to the point where only Ighalo’s selfishness stopped us winning at Old Trafford). But, as we’ve seen with lots of players from this time, his form/fitness/desire/application dropped after the FA Cup Final.

With every passing podcast he does he seems to be coming out with more and more outlandish stories about his time at Watford. That one where he got drunk on the ‘Filthy Fellas’ was laughable- stating he wanted to deliberately injure his own players if he didn’t get his own way.

I will always be grateful to Troy for what he did for our club in getting us promoted (and giving us a moment that is cemented in English footballing history) but he needs to wind it in

  4. Also, now he's getting regular airtime he needs to dial it down before he says something that scuppers his nascent media career.

Funny thing is he seems quite tame and reasoned when on MOTD but guess you have to be there.

Think Talksport try to wind him up a bit with their clickbait and keep getting him to talk about all our managers when he was here - Ally McCoist was doing that yesterday.

He's definitely playing to an audience than sticking to the full truth in these podcasts. I think he probably is telling something that did happen but was not a big interaction at the time and that he's hamming it up to develop his "straight talking 'ard man" persona to help his media career which just isn't necessary. It's like he trying to validate himself to the wider world that he's bigger than Watford and nobody cares about that. It's OK to say they did a lot for you but also that you don't want your identity to be just a former Watford player.

I don't expect Deeney or almost any former player to be reverent of Watford (Some players like Blissett and Doyley clearly are extremely thankful to have played for us because they were treated well by the club, fans & management but most players aren't as thankful as them, which is fair enough) but the now these big quotable soundbites he's coming up with are not just unexpected but downright disrespectful and undermines his work he did for us and sullies the relationship he enjoyed and benefited from for so long. I remember last year he was back at the Vic for the first time since his retirement and I swear it felt like the stands weren't as enthusiastic as I expected when he returned which is a huge shame as it's easy to forget how pivotal he was to our success for almost a decade which very, very few players can claim nowadays.

Our mark fans falling hook line and sinker for another Deeney promo.

This is all just kayfabe, looking to build heat ahead of Survivor Series where Deeney is going to team up with Andre Gray against Ryan Porteous and a returning John Cena in a Hell in a Cell eliminator for the Money in the Bank and King of the Ring titles.

He also mentions 'certain agents' who oversee training and pass feedback to the owner, which we know for a fact is a lie, as this was confirmed at the Parlaci.

Also, just wanted to say how incoherent his rambling rant was. Like a drunken Scotsman outside a Spoons, shouting at a tethered dog.

Between Troy Deeney, Andre Gray and Ryan Porteous I think that's a roster of only heels and no faces.

Or if you add Marlon King then you have your all time heel.

On a side note, the Undr The Cosh podcast is pretty good especially the Friday club episodes.

There are hundreds of football podcasts now and they are 99.9% self righteous idiots who believe they know more than anyone, but Cosh is good fun and more relaxed. Soccer A-Z is also worth a listen, it is the old Soccer AM mob so if you are from that era it makes for a good listen.

I have been a keen listener of Under The Cosh this year and there have been some great episodes but it drives me mad how much they talk over their guests. Often they ask them a question, cut them up with a different question then you never get to hear their original answer.

I know what you mean and they certainly aren't natural at it, but that can also add to the charm of it at times. The episode with Kevin Lynch, the former referee, is excellent.

I’ve heard that first title was the reason Gino gave to Troy for not selling him to Leicester.
