With A Smile was sitting in his front room alone. In front him sat a chessboard, with pieces in various positions. He stared down at the pieces, his mind quickly working through all the various possibilities in front of him. A small time-keeping clock steadily ticked down. WAS had always been a smart chap, in fact he actually considered himself to be pretty damn bright. Unlike those other idiots in the village, he spent most evenings at home reading books or practising his chess moves. The only time in recent years when he had ventured into the inn, had been to complain about the volume of the karaoke on offer. On that occasion Daft Row had been halfway through a particularly throaty rendition of Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On.’ It was a shame what had happened to Daft Row mused WAS, still he had been an idiot he thought and his singing voice was comparable to a chain saw running low on oil. He chuckled to himself, and returned his attention to the game. ‘Knight to E3,’ WAS muttered to himself, reaching down to move the piece. ‘I wouldn’t do that if I were you!’ growled a voice from behind him. WAS froze, he didn’t dare look around. He felt a clawed hand rest on his shoulder, and a shiver ran down his back. ‘What do you want with me?’ he whispered. ‘Oh, With A Smile surely that’s obvious,’ chuckled the wolf. It ran a claw gently across WAS neck. ‘However, im getting a bit bored of just gratuitously wiping you puny villagers out. So I’ll make you an offer. You beat me at chess, and I’ll leave you alive!’ WAS mumbled his assent, and the wolf took the seat opposite. WAS stole a look at the wolf. It was big, nearly 8ft tall, and broad shouldered. WAS shuddered, and made his first move. He began to play the Alekhine defense. If the wolf played as expected then this should be fairly straightforward. The wolf moved, and smiling slightly WAS set about his defence. 20 minutes later, With A Smile was only one move away from winning. The wolf looked intently down at the board, breathing heavily. ‘I’m afraid, I’ve got you!’ said WAS smugly. The wolf refused to look up, still scanning the board. Slowly he looked up at WAS and grunted. Suddenly he lashed out with a paw, and With A Smile was thrown across the room before crashing into the wall. He groaned in a heap. The wolf slowly rose up and crossed the room. He looked down at WAS over the end of his nose, ‘Nobody beats me!’ He slammed a fist forwards into WAS’s face, and it exploded into a mush of blood, bone and brain. Unsurprisingly With A Smile was dead. He was GOOD. __________________________ The other wolf approached Optimistic Hornets house. The whole building was in darkness, and the wolf was fairly confident he would find Optimistic asleep upstairs. He pushed lightly against the back door, and to his surprise found that the door was open. It creaked open. The wolf entered the kitchen looking around. Everything had been neatly put away, and there was no sign of life. He checked the other downstairs rooms before heading for the stairs. As he climbed, he strained his ears. There was still no sounds. He entered the bedroom, and in the faint moonlight shining in through the window could make out the sleeping figure of Optimistic in the bed. He crept across the room, and one step away readied himself to strike. He took a final step forward, and bellowed in pain. The bedroom light clicked on. ‘Surprise Wolfy! Time to put you down,’ chuckled Optimistic. The wolf’s foot was stuck in a massive bear trap. Again it yowled with pain. Optimistic leapt forward with a small hachet in hand, striking the wolf near its shoulder. The blade cut deep, and bloody immediately welled around the blade. The wolf lashed out with its other arm, grabbing Optimistic and throwing him across the bed. It then reached up and pulled the axe out of its shoulder. Blood sprayed across the room. Optimistic struggled to his feet on the other side of the room, leaning against the window breathing heavily. His arm was misshapen, definitely broken he thought. The wolf meanwhile reached down and slowly pulled the jaws of the bear trap open. He yowled again as the teeth came out of his leg, and then dived across the bed at the recovering Optimistic. The wolf crashed into Optimistic and the two of them fell through the bedroom window. They fell through the air, landing heavily on the well manicured lawn. The wolf rolled away, and pulled itself up. It limped across to the prone form of Optimistic. He lay spread-eagled on the ground, his back broken. He smiled up at the wolf, ‘Almost got you,’ he muttered quietly. The wolf dripped blood steadily on the ground. It looked down at Optimistic with disdain, and raised its good foot above his head. With a grunt, he stamped down on Optimistic’s head. Opti’s body shuddered briefly and then came to a rest. Optimistichornet was GOOD. RIP WaS and Opti. Nothing revealed by those kills . Another terrible night for the good villagers . Surely we just look today for a villager with a broken arm and a limp , and one that doesn't know his Sicilian defence from his Queens Gambit . Assuming PJ is GOOD means there are 3 EVILs amongst 8.

Good idea. I'm not entirely surprised Opti was eaten as proved to be good on Thursday. WaS though, I thought he was making too many suggestions such that I wasn't sure.
To me, like the other day it makes no reference to a previous message and smacks of desperation. On balance I think the first message is a touch more realistic, I'd say 75% chance the first is genuine.
when i was doing my number crunching on friday afternoon meh at that stage had posted least amount of the then surviving players ,so that 2nd message I would tend to believe , if thats the case then PO is good PJ is good and thats about as much as I had gleaned .
day4 1st message and day5 2nd message are short and sweet with no BS attached , mind you I prob wouldnt see right through any BS anyway
In a nutshell, that's the case. As I said on balance the first seems a bit more genuine than the second. Regarding low posting, I've been keeping a note, Hornetgags has been the lowest posting of the surviving villagers but I agree that Meh hasn't posted a great deal.
Morning all. I still cannot believe that DR was good. We've got ridiculously bad luck. My thoughts. The first message is from the seer. The second seems really desperate, and doesn't try to make a link from the day before. Also, no idea why we're getting so many early messages this year - but it's leading to an exciting and interactive game.* Please keep it up seer. * Even if we are being thrashed.
I don't disagree but I thought that it was common practice for the seer to make a reference to what he saw before.
I forget how at the moment but didnt we agree Gags was good or has that fallen by the wayside of Cthulu and DR both being good ?
Unfortunate day for it but won't be on here much today due to work commitments. If I get a chance at lunch time, I'll read through all the previous day's play now that we know what we know and see who was trying to undermine Dom when he was the seer. I might then post a theory and then come back at the end of the day to read the debate and vote.
Gags was never viewed as Good when we reviewed the messages, and that's been proven true as those killed were all proven Good. CB was called Good by a Wolf on same Day I was viewed before he was later killed, and the next message from the Wolf called Gags Good while the Seer called Opti Good that day.
I think somewhere down the line, the clever/brazen wolf has called himself out as good. I'd say Hornetgags or PO, but there's no evidence against Hornetgags apart from low posting, whereas one message and one confirmation message say that PO is evil. All other evidence is slim, even that calling Meh out.
I think everyone has been clutching at straws all week, apart from Thursday when we were sure that we were right when two players were called evil. As it stands we have two people implicated, PO and Meh, it's down to us to work out which one is. One thing for certain with the loss of Cthulhu and DaftRow last week is that we have lost the tinker, therefore one of PO and Meh must be evil. Due to the style of messages I'd say PO is evil, and of course there's a possibility that the wolf has accidentally called Meh out (or it really was the seer). I'd say 75% chance PO and 50% Meh, therefore I will probably vote PO.
Yeah. Unfortunately for Good no-ones really stood out, and the one(s) who did are dead AND proven good. The quieter ones for me are more under suspicion but you can't discredit Messages either as the are guarantees, if we make the right choice.
Have to say Im getting very confused, but in an attempt to fathom a path... It seems reasonable to assume that Day 5 Message 1 and Day 4 Message 2 are from the same person whether that be the Wolf or Seer. I know that at least half of Day 5 Message 1 is correct in that I am GOOD. This could be a feint by the Wolf but most likely to be the Seer which would mean PO is evil. My hunch he is Wolf as he hasnt posted enough to be the Traitor. Looking at this from a statistical viewpoint , up until Friday The Seer has not picked an EVIL correctly which would mean by law of averages he should have picked one by now. Both Day 4 and Day 5 PO has been picked as EVIL, which would mean the liklihood is this is true.
Absolutely agree. But we're getting pretty desperate here. The thing that really strikes me about the messages are how the second seems very reactionary. If the second message is from the wolf, then I'd guess that PO was the alpha.
