During the 3counties Stoke match commentary, Mr Marks (I think) said to Del that we are trying to bring in Jebbison on loan from Bmuff as a number 9. Also mentioned we missed out on getting Hamilton on loan and he went up to Boro instead. Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere already !
Does not seem like he scores many goals, so I do not think he would be the answer for us right now. As we want someone who will get into double figures at least over the season IMO!!!
24 appearances in the championship and 1 goal. 16 of those appearances for a promotion team. Admittedly I’m not sure how many of these were sub appearances. I’ve no idea what his overall game is like but those are bad stats for a striker.
This is exactly why I believe it’s so important to enjoy the very now, as well as casting an eye to the last two weeks of the window. I think we all agree we could use an extra forward, but we need to temper reality. We don’t seem in the market to actually buy anybody, a 20 goal a season striker isn’t suddenly going to fall in our lap, our search seems to be in the loan market, most likely for a younger and relatively unproven player. We may strike it lucky (if we strike it at all) but it could be a gamble and take time to bear fruit. I’d like both a new striker and defender, and tbh it’s the latter I feel is more important ahead of a long season, as I think TC’s system will see us share the goals around from all over the pitch. There were lots of posts last night, mine included, that after praising our performance then made reference to ‘if only we get two new signings’ etc. That’s fine, but I think it’s important not to let the transfer window distracting us from fully appreciating what we are already managing to do without these hoped for additions.
I am actually somewhat similarly inclined to you, but to be totally fair, those 16 appearances only added up to a total of 487 minutes, and he has still only just turned 21 a couple of weeks ago:
What I will say is that the Chinese whispers nature of this kind of thing is amusing - the prospect was briefly mentioned as someone we were theoretically interested in bringing in on comms yesterday afternoon, and by this point we already have Twitterers claiming that it had 'been announced' on the stream, and comments like this under Wobby articles:
I really don’t like the modern tendency to quote only total appearances for players, whether they are for 90 or just one minute on the pitch. It can really give a false impression. Total minutes is better as a measure, but it still somewhat misleading because of the match situation a substitute might come into. For instance a striker might be sent on for the last ten minutes with the team in a desperate situation two goals down and the opposition in complete control. That’s very different from the ‘blank canvas’ of starting a match when he might be more likely to score.
Agreed about total minutes as a better measure. Statistically it seems more goals are scored in the second half with a decent proportion in the final 15. They’d similarly be coming on with fresh legs against tired defenders. If anything it’s probably beneficial for strikers goals per minute stats when they come on late and that may be partially why there’s the phenomenon of super subs. (I did find Chumlax’s post somewhat reassuring though)
Yeah as per Chumlax's post he played just 489 minutes and was only 19. He also got 2 assists as well as the 1 goal in those minutes anyway, which isn't that shabby. 7 goals in 1238 minutes as an 18 year-old in League One is also very good. From the clips I've seen of him recently I think he looks quite good. Certainly he is rapid, meaning he should be good on the counter with Chak, and getting on the end of crosses across the face of goal. I wouldn't worry about his quality and would be pleased if we managed to bring him in. The only question in my mind is who would be better between him and Al-Hamadi, but I'm not sure there's much between them.
In which case he may be upset because it was Geoff Doyle with Derek Payne. It was easy to spot the difference as he incorrectly identified three players who were not even on the pitch, as well as confusing the Stoke Manager for our Tom.

As has been pointed out on here before, most young PL players don't excel in their first season out on loan. In recent seasons, even players who had been highly rated at youth level, and who a season or two later were who everyone in the Champ would be after, had fairly unspectacular first seasons on loan eg Jay Stansfield, Liam Delap, Amad Diallo, Jaden Philogene, Troy Parrott, James Garner etc. We've also seen it take a season or so for players like JP to start flourishing. Lankshear hasn't had a single minute of first team football, so it seems a stretch to expect him to immediately hit the ground running here. The main area I'd have reservations with Jebbison is I'm not sure what his physicality and hold-up play is like, but I think he'd be a decent goalscorer and good on the counter.
Why unfair? I watched him play for Rangers and he was absolutely shocking! Maybe it wasn't the best environment, but it also wasn't a surprise he was little used as the chances he did get he was way off the pace at the time.
I heard this on the commentary also have to admit I felt a little bit underwhelmed at the thought of this signing. His goal scoring record is actually worse than what we have and I would just rather play Mamadou Doumbia instead and try and develop him instead of signing another forward that seemingly finds scoring challenging.
My opinion is that he was the striker we wanted but went to a Premier league club. Maybe we still have an interest in him but I believe it's someone else we're looking at.
If he couldn’t get a game for Sheffield United last season, he’s not going to get a game for Bournemouth, he’ll be available on loan
I guess he was only on the bench as cover whilst others are injured/not ready to be involved ? Is the new lad Bournemouth have brought for 40 million one for example?
As far as I know, Evanilson (the £40m signing) and Jebbison are the only out and out strikers Bournemouth have, so Bournemouth probably aren’t prepared to let Jebbison go yet. Ipswich have signed Szmodics and Delap and are linked with Broja so I guess Al-Hamadi would be available now if we are still in for him
We should go all out for Jebbison. Never seem him kick a ball, but you don’t get to play for Muff unless you are an incredible footballer
I couldn’t help but see a tweet from @Amersham CC that suggests he is in fact coming to us. Don’t want to put you on the spot at all but how sure are you?
I have no idea if he is coming or not. The tweet was merely trying to wind a Pompey fan who suggested that he was going to them. However of all the current rumours this is the one that I would put my money on.
