We are prepared to let him leave us on a free, despite him having three years left on his contract. Don’t be surprised to see Wrexham try to get him, although he might go back to Austria.
Hope it's true but this is coming from the same guy at the s*n who created a bullsh!t story a few days ago.
While I’m too simple to comprehend it, this is another sign that the grand master plan moves a step closer to completion. Great work from the stability.
He will be on a good contract here. I doubt he will earn a move "upwards" so would face a loss in wages signing for anyone else. Letting him go for nothing at least saves his wages and allows him to negotiate a decent deal to avoid him just burning down his contract here.
He's just missed out on the Liverpool 3rd GK gig. But he might appeal to a club like that for that role. Not sure that's really 'upwards' but they would presumably cover his current wage.
Well, if he does leave his Summer we will always have Elland Road last season, and his Karate skills to remember him by. Not to mention that bizarre incident against Southampton where he walked off the pitch. Closest thing I've ever seen is Kiko subbing himself off when we were in the Prem.
Closest thing I've ever seen is Kiko subbing himself off when we were in the Prem.[/QUOTE] I thought we'd seen the last of this defamatory trope.
Thought even our fanbase would be united on this one………but then there is this Walters bloke on twitter who is defending Dan to the last!
Just thought it was amusing how aggressively he is defending such a poor player. Apologies won’t comment further.
It's as bizarre as those who aggressively tie themselves up in knots about a player they don't like. For an increasing amount of people there seems to be no middle ground. Bachmann has been between poor and average in his time at Watford. Seen worse, seen many better.
Fair summary. The 5 year deal and captaincy was what tilted a lot of people but not his fault. 3 years left of his deal and nobody will take him - says how poor a decision that was from the people running the club. Absurd contract for a below average keeper.
Yes an awful decision, bet he couldn't sign it quick enough. As I recall we seemed to have a fairly sensible summer that year, and then just before the season started that news was announced.
He has 2 huge problems - his temperament and his inability to come for crosses. His shot stopping was OK - probably a B- or a C+ - but unfortunately plenty of other goalkeeping and footballing aspects were a D or an E. I use the past tense on the sincere hope we've seen the last of him - at least until he inevitably keeps a heroic clean sheet against us for bloody Oxford or MK Dongs in the cup at some point in the future
We had been absolutely spoiled with some colossal goalies before Bachmann got the #1 jersey, he’s a long way short of Foster, Gomes and Selvik, but he’s better than Loach
How many years did he have on his contract before? The Pozzos absolutely hate letting people’s contracts run out, but it seems they still haven’t learned from the Janmaat debacle!
You're absolutely right @WFC123, brings back memories of this... back home england squad - Google Search
There was a spell of 5 or 6 months a couple of seasons back where he looked pretty good. Other than that I'd say he was a fairly ok. I was whelmed. Then every now and then he does something ridiculous. The Keith Dublin of goalkeepers.
I'm better than Loach and I can't even touch my toes. Gomes and Coton the two best goalies I've seen play for Watford but I was a big fan of Kevin Miller too, fantastic player for a chunky lad.
Surely he won't be on too much if the contract was only signed two years but still probably too much for a 3rd choice keeper who won't like being that.
The fact we have to offer him about for free transfer with 3 years left suggests he is on a significant wage. Bear in mind he was made captain as part of the deal.
