The weather forecast for Gros Islet in St Lucia predicts rain nearly all day on Sunday when Scotland face Australia...
Would be a stunningly unlucky turn of events if we were unable to beat Scotland as it was rained off and Scotland got points against the Aussies due to that being rained off too but were able to play their 2 easy games. Just need our games against Oman & Namibia to be rained off to complete the set....
With 10 wickets in hand, 109 in 10 overs *should* have been very achievable, no matter how well the Scotland openers started their innings, although it's hard to have much sympathy for England with the way they've played over the first two games
I was there to see thos shower of sh!te! Too many schoolboy errors that should of been coached out of them by now. Middlesex haven't excelled in white ball cricket since they last won the T20 in 2006 or 2008. So long ago I can't even remember! Also they can't even sell out Lords for these games now. The top tiers of the new stands aren't even open, although last night one was. I even did the "home game" at Chelmsford and that was abysmal too.
Fair play the Aussies, already chirping away about taking their time against Scotland if it means lowering the net run rate and increasing the chances of England being eliminated.
Marsh will be banned for 2 games if they think Australia will have engineered a result against Scotland, would be hilarious tbf! From what I read, if Scotland lose by the minimal amount (ie lose in a super over), England will need to win against Oman and Namibia by a combined 117 runs or equivalent. Oman performed well against Australia, and Namibia are a decent side on their day, but if the games go ahead, you'd think the flat decks would help England
Do we want to bowling first then try to knock the runs off quickly like Scotland and the Aussies have done against the minnows ? Not sure you can rely on our bowling attack getting them all out quickly. We’ll win both weather permitting but not sure it will be by enough.
Oman 71-2 off 8.1 overs. Rain interruption. England set 137 off 6 overs under the mysterious Duckworth McLewis programme.
Namibia all out for 72 against Australia and Oman are poor. Not sure you could pick easier games to have. Rain may play a big part though which is a shame because we could well go out having played one game
We should win both games if they go ahead, and win them well, but I don't think we'll be skittling anyone out for 72 with how our bowlers are playing, and how the pitches are likely to be!
I wonder what the repercussions will be after our disappointing exit (I'm pessimistically expecting weather to intervene in at least one of the 3 games) - even in the little cricket played England haven't looked confident. I guess Mott will go and Buttler replaced as Captain. No idea who would replace him though. Thoughts?
Well we will do our job very easily is that going to be enough ? EDIT: Apparently if we get them in 5 overs we can go above Scotland? Although Sky seemed to think not.
