Had an afternoon out in London today and saw two people on separate occasions wearing the green sunflower lanyards who walked into pubs, realised barely anyone was wearing masks and then mysteriously decided to take their lanyards off and pop them in their pocket or bag. Funny how disabilities fade away…

 

Hope nobody here is cowering from the virus.

I'm talking about on arrival in Iceland. I could spend the holiday locked in a hotel with food pushed under the door. Quarantine at home on return wouldn't worry me as I've decided to work from home permanently with just an occasional foray into the office.

Before WWC, supermarket (and public transport) staff would immediately, on seeing them, offer extra assistance to the wearer.

You can but them in the UK and take them with you. Easy peasy.

 

I imagine refunds would only be considered if you were unable to attend due to no fault of your own. If you can't have the jab because of other medical issues then you will either get an exemption or would be entitled to a refund.

 

FYI I checked the season ticket T&C's on the club website.

Basically it's your responsibility to attend following government Covid rules 2.2e.
Refunds will not be given except for the reasons listed in section 6.3.

I think that’s harsh Smudger. It’s incomprehensible to me that people won’t have the vaccine, but their getting sick is shame. There are so many types of human folly.

 

This just shows how unclear, or at least confusing, the whole thing is. I was under the impression the test you needed before leaving the foreign country was a PCR test or equivalent, not the iffy lateral flow ones you buy in Boots. That’s why it seems odd that you can book at an airport for your departure day, unless you’re expected to spend hours there waiting for a result.

 

My medical issue is one that is known as sanity.

I think it must surely be against the Nuremburg convention to be blackmailing people to have this jab in this manner.

 

What’s your objection to having the vaccine? Would you be taking it if you weren’t (effectively) being told to in this way?

 

You could run an argument under Art 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Wouldn’t surprise me if someone did.

 

I would bet you money that the person doing so would be a leave voter.

But the UK Courts wouldn’t be bound by the decision would they? Up yours Delors etc.

 

Year 1 undergrad error, I’m afraid. ECHR is not EU. Action would be brought under the Human Rights Act.

I’ve spoken to a few people who won’t have the vaccine. They have what they feel are valid reasons for not putting something in their body they don’t want. I may disagree with their reasons but at the end of the day it’s their body/life. I think they are wrong and nuts but to be honest I think anyone who rides a motorbike is nuts….but hey their choice.
I hate the bullying/blackmail aspect of making people have the vaccine, it just feels wrong and don’t get me started on under 16s having it!
