It didn't last summer and not sure why his value will have gone up given his impact and one year less on his contract. Hope you're right but I'd be amazed.

It's unlikely but you never know. Some idiots agreed to pay £15m for Keinan Davis

Yes but only effectively as a promotion bonus - no suggestion that the player was worth that price. They could have equally said £10m promotion bonus and £5m for Davis.

Got a horrible feeling we'll have dropped at least a couple of million on him just for the loan.

Interestingly, statistically he is the best - there's 87 CMs in the league that have played >900 mins. Hamza has the most (possession adjusted) tackles + interceptions combined p90 out of those players.

    The top 10:

    1) Choudhury - 5.98 (tackles + interceptions p90)
    2) Jack Corn (Burnley) - 5.90
    3) Joe Allen - Swansea - 5.28
    4) Ben Sheaf - Coventry - 4.98
    5) Lewis Travis - Blackburn - 4.95
    6) Daniel Neil - Sunderland - 4.91
    7) Josh Cullen - Burnley - 4.84
    8) Gardner-Hickman - West Brom - 4.82
    9) Edouard Michut - Sunderland - 4.63
    10) Kenny McLean - Norwich = 4.62

Not surprised. He is a great ball-winner. He just needs the quality alongside him to lay the ball off to. The minute he tries to do anything creative or progressive himself, it all falls apart. It's not his job.

I keep flip-flopping between thinking that his defensive output is so strong that it makes up for his on the ball weaknesses and that a quality progressor next to him will be enough to thinking that his on the ball ability is so poor that it will probably be more beneficial to be worth sacrificing some of that output to get someone more balanced. I think next season we'll probably want to dominate and control games a bit more, so someone better on the ball is probably the smarter option.

Yes understand your view. Personally I’d like a mix in MF with ball winner and flair players. Very few players can do everything very well and if they can they won’t be with us for long. I’ve always got time for a Joslyn/Train/Taylor/Behrami shielding the defence alongside a couple of more creative players.

Loved Behrami, a much, much better version of Choudhury. His performance man marking Neymar in the World Cup was a masterclass, took every bit as much footballing intelligence as being a creative player (as well as incredible concentration).

I just want to start a reasonable thread - some may disagree, I may get some things wrong - but ultimately I don't know a single fan who doesn't think this is necessary. So I ma going to start this and wee where it goes ..... Clearing the decks would ideally start with Gino selling up, but that isn't going to happen, I fail to see how his actions are in the best interest of the football team but for now we are stuck with him and Duxbury so I will leave them out of this conversation in terms of ownership - but not in involvement in the football team.

Director of Football and team ..... Manga and Costa and co. - In my opinion we leave them be, they haven't been here long and Gino and Dux should give them total control of all footballing decisions, be that players in and out, scouting, Head Coach choice, Medical team, sports scientists, fitness team , etc. Give them a budget and total responsibility for using it.

Head Coach - Currently Wilder - I have no issue in retaining him if he is a Manga man. If Manga want to appoint someone else then so be it. I will back it...... But lets be clear the new Head Coach needs to be supported and player bought that he agrees to and wants for his system and style of play. The head coach must be given 2 seasons - unless we are relegated to league 1, plain and simple, pick a coach and back him and his style of football

Medical team, Sports scientist, fitness team - this area of the club needs a complete overhaul of personnel - imo, we have not been fit enough as a team since the Pozzo reign began - Manga and co need to completely change this as whatever we have now, I don't believe works.

Culture, Set by Manga.... we need a complete mentality change throughout the club - one that the players, Coaches and fans can buy into - we need a winners mentality more than technical excellence in the Championship - Gino needs to accept this - you wont make money off of buying players who cant get you promoted out of the Championship

Players - I'll keep this simple and just give my opinion of who we need to keep and who we need to sell / send back .... not all of the players I say sell too are because I don't want them at the club - some (well 1 in particular) is because we need to sell them to refund the rebuild - but again, this should be totally Manga and the Head coaches decision.

1 GK Daniel Bachmann - SELL
2 DF Jeremy Ngakia - KEEP
3 DF Mario Gaspar - SELL / RELEASE
4 MF Hamza Choudhury - SEND BACK
6 MF Imran Louza - KEEP
7 FW Keinan Davis - SEND BACK
8 MF Tom Cleverley - SELL / RELEASE
10 FW João Pedro - SELL
11 MF Ismaël Koné - KEEP
12 MF Ken Sema - KEEP
13 DF João Ferreira - KEEP
14 DF Hassane Kamara - SEND BACK TO UDINESE
15 DF Craig Cathcart - SELL / RELEASE
18 MF Yáser Asprilla - KEEP
21 FW Henrique Araújo - SEND BACK
22 DF Ryan Porteous - KEEP (Make Captain imo)
    23 FW Isma*la Sarr - SELL
    24 MF Tom Dele-Bashiru - SELL / RELEASE
25 MF Leandro Bacuna - SELL / RELEASE
26 GK Ben Hamer - KEEP
27 DF Christian Kabasele - SELL / RELEASE
28 FW Samuel Kalu - SELL / RELEASE
30 DF Kortney Hause - SEND BACK
31 DF Francisco Sierralta - SELL
34 MF Britt Assombalonga - SELL / RELEASE
35 GK Maduka Okoye - SELL
37 FW Matheus Martins - SEND BACK
39 MF Edo Kayembe - SELL / RELEASE
42 DF James Morris - SELL / RELEASE
44 DF Wesley Hoedt - KEEP

.... I would also release or sell all those out on loan so Joseph Hungbo, WTE, Ashley Fletcher, Domingos Quina, Ignaccio Pussetto, Kwadwo Baah, Mattie Pollock and Vakoun Bayo.

That would leave us with 9 players out of the squad - No easy task to rebuild its a lot out the the door but we need a massive shake up and that will do it. We need hungry players with a point to prove, players who want to wear the shirt and give 100% each match, blood, sweat and tears, players that the Head Coach wants, that fit a system and a style of play that we want to adopt as a club.

I ma sure much more needs changing and I could of gone into more detail - but its a start

From what I understand, we’d need 15 new players in the summer just to match the current squad size.

I assume the rest of the post is instructions on how to build a Time Machine to go back to 2012 so we’re able to do it on the shoestringiest of shoestring budgets again.

Agree with most of those but I’d keep Morris, even if it’s as a backup. I’d also keep Martins as I think he will be good once he gets up to speed with the Championship (although no point in having wingers if we are playing 3-5-2). I also think we need to keep Blake who is a good prospect. Not sure about Kayembe who looked good at times

Wilder has to be first out of the door, preferably tomorrow. He advocates boring, unattractive, defensive football and is totally useless as Middlesbrough fans will testify. If we really wanted to change direction and take risks I would appoint Deeney as manager with a older more experienced assistant manager ?Martin O'Neil.

The only players I would keep other than the youngsters like Blake, Adeyemo etc would be

Bachmann he is a good Champiknship level keeper
    Ngakia
Louza although I think he will want to go
Pedro but again he will want to go
    Kone
    Sema
Cathcart one of the few that tries and due to his defensive versatility
    Asprilla
Porteous I agree make him captain
    Sierralta
    Hamer or Okoye
    Morris
    Hoedt
    Hungbo
Gosling assuming he recovers from his injury

I think Sema is probably good for one more season especially as we are now almost certain to be in the Championship next season for another year.

Bachmann I am still 50/50 about. Hamer and Okoye have hardly played at all, and selling both Bachmann and Okoye would leave us with no backup. It's pretty clear that Okoye is not in the interest of the club's plans so yet another waste of money well spent. Bachmann has his faults, his kicking is no where near good enough right now and his insistance of gluing both feet to the goal line has cost us goals. Not to mention the reason why some fans' call him Flapmann. However, he is still a solid Champo keeper, at least for next season, but I would like to see Hamer given a few games as well.

Kabasele, Cleverley, Sarr, Kalu and Kayembe all need to be loaned out or released.

Cathcart can still be a reliable defender at this level, but I do understand age is not on his side and he has a few more mistakes in him this season. I would also love to keep hold of Pedro, Louza and extend Choudhury's loan spell. As a three, working under the right conditions with a winning mentality around them, they do work well together.

Davis, Kamara and Hause will be gone regardless. As for up top, Assombolonga was a poor signing, and he will probably be gone in the Summer. Will we keep hold of Araujo? Don't know, but I would like to see him given a few games to try and find out what he can do with a consistent run of games. We will almost certainly need to find the funds for another striker, if Bachmann does go, a GK.

This is all going to take a lot of time and certainly not done over one transfer window. First port of call will be to get rid as much of the dead wood as possible, but even for us, that is going to be tricky. Only real option would be to release them on a free and lose out on any possible income. For a few of the older players we might not have choice.

Some points about the players are fair enough but was the last time Martin O’Neil involved in coaching !?

And he’s hardly be one for modern day attacking football.

Maybe the answer isn’t to just keep changing the manager every 5 minutes ?
