The Blondie drummer has passed away
Great musician and a very sad day

Sad news. A good drummer in a very very good band, one of the greats. Atomic remains probably my all-time favourite song, for me it encapsulates everything good about the 80s, being released as it was right at the start of the decade.

Fun fact…Clem was once kicked out of his school orchestra for drumming too loudly!

Interesting comment suggesting everything good about the ‘80s happened pretty well at the end of the ‘70s. Accords completely with my feelings towards a poor decade. Rampant farking Thatcherism parodied by stupid fashions and repetitive ‘synth-pop’.

IMV a good "decade" does not have to be 60s 70s 80s but could be , for example '76 to '86 or '69 to '79 etc etc. Also people see the "best" era as when they were young people in my experience.
So from my perspective 1979 to 1989 was the best for music but this does not mean anyone else's opinion
is incorrect. What is undeniable is that 1979 was the peak for 7" sales .

On which basis I nominate 1968 to 1978….was tempted to move it back 1 year to enable me to avoid Saturday Night Fever and all its dreadful fallout.
