I was appalled when I saw this but apparently he stopped running because of his hamstring. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/23048796.kabasele-misses-norwich-pedro-cathcart-squad/ Bilic: “We conceded the second goal at Blackpool partly because Kabasele got injured and he stopped running. They made the cross in that moment and scored.”
Thought he was pretty good again today, made one error in the first half which he made up for with a block, and one in the second half where Bachmann bailed him out but other than that fairly comfortable
One of the worst signings of the Pozzo era in my opinion (obviously tonight wasn't his fault, but he is hopeless). Granted, players like Manaj, Acuna, Neuton, etc contributed far less, but at least we weren't stuck with them for years. We've been stuck with Kabasele for nearly 7 years now and he's only had a handful of decent performances. No doubt he's probably a lovely guy, but him, Cleverley, Gosling, Gaspar, etc need to be straight out the door come the Summer.
No Norn, you’re just hurting because of what happened in Burnley tonight. As you said, he didn’t do much wrong. He’s a half decent defender. And an easy target who’s never been forgiven for lying down and letting Bournemouth score.
I agree he didn’t do much wrong last night. But you won’t need to look far back or far forward to find his next abomination of a mistake. That’s the point surely, not last night. We have paid this player handsomely for 7 seasons and he has been largely below average with plenty of awful mistakes thrown in most seasons. We will be stuck with him next year as well due to the absurd contract extensions.
I actually think he is a great squad player and as for his so called errors, plenty of our other players make similar if not worse mistakes, he is just one of the main targets for the boo boys. It seems to be a WFC supporters trait to have players that can do no right in their eyes and Kabaselle is one of those players ATM, which IMO is not deserved.
7 years - blimey is it really that long ? Approaching "legend" status. Wonder who his testimonial will be against ? ...and whether he will he be fit to play in it ?
Gone to Udinese . Sure that will be a popular move ! https://twitter.com/WatfordFC/status/1683847310336221186?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
Seems like after a slow start we’re doing a very good job at clearing the decks now. That’s most of the players we needed to shift now sorted.
I think Pollock should be viewed as a squad member - did well at Aberdeen. But nonetheless think we need at least one more (with George Abbott being CB #6)
He was a really top bloke by all accounts. Hell of an ambassador for the club in the community. Good luck Christian, and I for one would welcome him back in a coaching role like Clevs at some point. It was definitely the right call for him to be moved on from the playing staff though.
He divided opinion on this forum, but I always thought there was a very good player there, who did make his fair share of mistakes. Wishing you well in Italy. Thanks Kaba.
A poster boy for expensive failure and keeping poor players beyond their sell by date. Great news and good riddance.
The amount of love from the likes of WFC Trust, Women of Watford, etc speaks volumes about the character of Kabasele. He was no longer of the ability to start but a fantastic man by all accounts, go well Kaba.
A decent enough Championship defender and always came across as a nice bloke. Another result of being offered a ridiculous contract and without any proper investment in the defence for years, he ended up playing far more than he should have. Once again, owners to blame rather than the player himself.
