Is there anyone out there who still wants him for next season?

We've miraculously actually managed to get even worse under him!

I don’t blame him taking the job, but I don’t think he has shown himself to be the best Head Coach we have had this season.

Brutally honest and refreshing interview from Wilder just gone out on club media. Says everything we’re all thinking.

So probably be sacked in a day or two as the players won’t like it .

A summary of what he effectively said:

Are we a good team? No.
Are we even that good as individuals? Not really.
Are the players incapable of following instructions/a tactical plan? Yes.
Will he be here next season? Lol no.
Is it an impossible job? Pretty much.

Sums up this ******* shambles of a football club.

Best wishes Chris. No manager deserves to have this lot of garbage foisted upon them. Good luck at Heart of Midlothian. Back to a real football club.

His post-match comments are gold. That's his best part, how he sees the game and the way he's calling out the players. It needs doing. We all know he will not be at the club beyond 8th May, he even knows it, so fair play for firing the guns.

However, we are worse than we were under Bilic. Can't believe a coach has come in and made us worse, so he's fluffed his probation. But his apparent impunity gives him the confidence to say it how it is. I hope after the Stoke match he goes even more into detail as to the problems at the club.

A massive summer rebuild is needed. Even some of our January signings seem to have become part of the toxic culture now. It's a huge problem. For example, I'd take WTE over Hoet any day. Troost may not be the greatest, but he cares and is a leader in the dressing room. We need this type of player flooding the club next season. Players who give a damn and want to be part of a team and the club. This is where Pozzo has failed the most. He's not given any credence to character. He just sees players as commodities who might have good technical characteristics, but this has taken us to the point where we are now. All the "leaders" have left.

Great assessment from Wilder and well done to him to make clear how he feels about the players without going into full rant mode. I like him.

Wilder has been poor. We've won 2 games out of 9 since he's been at the club. We correctly charged Edwards and Bilic with obtaining consistently good results with this squad, and yet the incumbent head coach gets a free pass, with his post-match comments apparently enough to appease many and divert most of the blame away from him.

It is his job to train the players all week, set us up positively and make appropriate changes during a game. He has achieved even less than his two predecessors, and has won 4 out of 20 games across two Championship stints this season.

Gino, stop being your usual patient self and roll the dice again!

We've been playing like a side in 24th since we came back from the WC break. It's just incredible how we stayed in "touch" with the playoffs for so long. Players' are totally rotten as are the owners. Wilder is a good coach in this division when he has a group of players who listen and give a damn.

The players are rotten, there’s no doubting that, but Wilder has his limitations. I’ve seen nothing from the team selection, substitutions or anything in game play to suggest he’s the right guy for next season.

You just can’t back him on what he’s done with us. Rightly or wrongly, these 11 games were an audition to show he could have an impact, even with a failing squad. He’s had no impact whatsoever.

He talks a good game, but I’ve seen nothing to convince me it’s anything more than that.

Why Morris did not start or have Asp in midfield instead of Louza or at least try something different in formation. Going through the motions like the players.

Useless, absolutely useless. We all know there are bigger problems, but he has done nothing to show he wants the job full time.

Talks a great game, but that’s all it is.

Tactically outclassed, substitutions terrible, in game management non existent, team selections questionable and I can imagine his teamtalks before the game, at HT and FT being about as inspiring as watching paint dry.

We wouldn't have gone up under any of the three coaches this year but we'd have been a damn sight closer under the other two than Wilder, judging on the evidence so far. He's made quite a bad team considerably worse.

Wilder has clearly been rubbish and we’d have been far better off just keeping either of the previous two, but at the same time if we could keep going back in time and appointing a different manager instead, we’d probably get to about 10 before we hit on the one that could’ve got us the 5/6 wins on the bounce we needed at the point wilder came in.

When you run a football club on the basis of trying to shock the team into generating a few wins over the course of a month or two you’re basically trying to hit the bullseye on a dartboard blindfolded, it might come off but it probably won’t. They probably employed wilder on the basis that he won his first 5 at Boro, but just ignored the rest. When you try and run a football club like that more often than that it will blow up in your face.

Oh and Wilder’s ‘honesty’ is nothing new, after wasting a lot of money on the wrong players at Sheffield Utd, he threw the whole team under the bus pretty much every week during their relegation season, saying they weren’t good enough and creating a terrible team spirit.

The trouble is we don’t have a common theme with our managers.

Seem to go through all types without much success recently!

Of course all these managers will have their own ideas or thoughts on the squad so there is no continuity or confidence building and players just pick and choose who they like .

We’ve been crying out for a real technical director for years. Gino and SD thought they knew best. They might have had careers around football but neither have the correct qualifications.

At the start we had Gianluca Nani and he did a decent job in identifying what was needed to run a football club. After he left it was Giraldi then Giraretta. So the quality over footballing decisions was being watered down over a long period of time. I suspect Gino thought he knew best and didn’t think we needed a technical director of any note. He just needed someone to sort out the boring contract stuff, hence Giaretta and Bayat’s little book of players, as Gino rates himself as a super-scout.

Seeing how badly the club has unravelled over the past 4 years it appears he’s had a change of mind.

Now we have Manga, and he has a seriously impressive pedigree. Hopefully he will sort out the mess Gino has placed us in.

It’s a massive job, but I suspect some of the **** players we’re seeing every week might be turned around, but a big clear out is needed for sure. It can’t be just a bit of tinkering here and there. We need players who want to win not who just come for an easy salary.

Number one task is getting a manager who has the energy and enthusiasm to build a side from scratch. We do have rich resources in terns if reach, which is unusual for a club our size. This is where we benefit from the Pozzo ownership. Hopefully this stands us in good stead to attract a promising coach, maybe a high profile ex-player, like Burnley did.

I’m certain it won’t be Wilder. There is no smoke without fire regarding the manager interview stories last week, as far as I’m concerned.

Once Manga gets his man, the rest should fall into place. Head coach and Manga plotting the players required and given a free run at it.

Listening to his post-Cardiff rant, Wilder has basically ruled himself out of contention, I'm not sure if it's of his own volition or whether the owners are unimpressed (probably the latter!). I have to say, the club are making all the right noises, they seem to be indicating that they'll do what Papa Pozzo did at Udinese and step back, but a) can we trust them, and b) even if they are telling the truth, how effective can any rebuild be with the eye-watering levels of debt? There are also some reservations about Manga, he had a good record at Frankfurt, but in a different league, and surely not under the same restrictions as he'll face here

We have to pin our hopes on something. Had Manga not been appointed, there would be virtually zero hope anything would change. I’m hoping Manga and his old fashioned scouting approach has a big impact. He built a big reputation at Frankfurt and it’s a coup to have got him when his stock was so high. So fair play to Gino for that.

I don’t suppose Manga and his team are a cheap option. We’re lucky as we’ve offered him a next level-up position of responsibility, which fitted into his thinking. He knows he’ll have the entire scouting network of not only Watford but Udinese to tap into, so I can see why the job was attractive to him as it gives him a chance to develop and he should be successful in the second tier of English football.

But your concerns are the same as mine. Will Gino let him get on with it? The Q&A cannot come soon enough. We all need to hear from the owner. So much can be read into what is said, what is not said, and the way it’s said. We’ll have a good understanding of who this guy is afterwards, which will be a good indicator as to how the future might be and what lies store for us.
