Agree with that, him doing well there would be to replicate what NJ did, so I don’t see what he can achieve really.

Nice bloke and I don't agree with how he was treated here, but now he's with the scum I hope he has a terrible time and gets them relegated.

That article also says: "their rivalry stretches back to 1921", but of course they have been playing each other since 1885 and from 1900 in the (Southern) League.

Big shoes to fill and he will have to win their fans over there quickly.

Just as well we don’t play them for a while though .

Is he the first manager then to manage both clubs?

Rob Edwards is a snake. Absolutely no loyalty in football these days. He should be ashamed.

There's people on Twatter crying about Edwards having a few digs at us in his first interview today. I haven't seen it but he's got every right to in my eyes.

We supported Edwards come hell or high water, and he still failed. And then he has the audacity to join pootown

As I've said before, I don't really care about Luton. I also think we made the right decision in getting rid of Edwards.

In a way I'm pleased though that he's got this job as it will give more of a demonstration as to how good he actually is as a manager with him likely getting more than the 11 games in the Champ he had with us.

I do think he under-performed here, and I'm sure Watford fans will be happy if he ends up doing the same at Luton.

I agree, he didn't seem to have any real tactical awareness, which is needed when things aren't going to plan, ie Slavisa Jokanovic away to Brighton taking Anya off after 25 mins, Zola bring on Watson for his debut when 2-0 down home to Blackpool, subs which made a difference! Edwards subs against Sunderland cost us 2 points and probably him his job!

I've always found the argument that Jokanovic was a great coach because he made a lot of changes early in games a bit odd. To me it screams of someone who wasn't very good at preparing his team for games. No doubt he is a decent coach but he had a very talented squad, I think most coaches with some discipline could have got a tune out of a team consisting of Deeney, Vydra, Forestieri, Ighalo, Abdi, Guedioura, Watson etc etc etc. I'm probably on my own here.

I don't think he did in general for us, it was just the Brighton game on the day we won promotion when he took Anya off, mainly because it was such a memorable day.

No, you're not. If Jokanovic was that great, he would have done a lot better elsewhere after leaving us. Many fans look disproportionately fondly on managers who achieve a promotion. Some will insist Boothroyd was marvellous.

He wasn't marvellous your correct, but he was young (back then) and wanting to get his feet wet in a new role. Boothroyd saved us from relegation to League One that season he came in, and had we stuck with Ray Lewington I am pretty sure we would of gone down. Winning at Stoke and Rotherham saved us and thankfully in his first full season he had Marlon King on steroids. Not to mention a tuned Mattie Spring and a less YT focused Foster along side DeMerrit from the U S of A. :) Yes he ran out of steam following our relegation in 2007 (although we started the next season very well), but personally he did a good enough job with what we had. He was a step up from Lewington and a likable personality. Off he went to Cov and Northampton and never really devlivered.

Here here, I don't like it when people rewrite history, 2005/6 remains as one of my favourite seasons.
Yes he did run out of steam after relegation but I think having his ego massaged by Simpson and Ashton didn't help.

And yet, at one point was only another scandel away from becoming interim England manager

Ps agree with all the above - well said

I think there's a solid enough argument to be made he was up until the Sheffield United home game (if not Pompey away), when from them on his tactical limitations were often exposed against better footballing and more savvy sides, and even in the FA Cup despite us getting to the semis. Even in the promotion season if you're going to be particularly critical we only got 7 points in 10 games against our promotion rivals, and even if you make a case for mitigating circumstances (Preston at home was first game with a new team, down to nine men at Leeds, still got two credible draws against the runaway leaders and won the play-offs convincingly when it mattered), that suggested that under him we didn't have enough to survive in the top flight (indeed, we only got one win against the bottom 8 sides, loads of largely useless draws though with lots of dropped points at home - throwing away two-goal leads to Fulham and Charlton and failing to beat ten-man Wigan were the stand-outs). Or to be fair, maybe that was just the make-up of a squad cobbled together with limited resources - highly effective against the rest, but limited against the top 6 Championship sides upwards.

For what it's worth whoscored Chump XI of the Season thus far. Shame we plumped for Gaspar over Laird. Should have pushed the boat out for Chair a couple of seasons ago as well.

    Viktor Johansson (Rotherham United),

Ethan Laird (Queens Park Rangers), Ahmed Ahmedhodzic (Sheffield United), Jordan Storey (Preston), Hassane Kamara (Watford)

Josh Sargent (Norwich City), Oliver Norwood (Sheffield United), Josh Brownhill (Burnley), Ilias Chair (Queens Park Rangers),

Oli McBurnie (Sheffield United), Joao Pedro (Watford)

I am stunned Kabasele did not get a spot. 10 / 10 performance every game he has taken part in.

Kamara's inclusion a handy early signpost that we can completely disregard the entire exercise.

Very clever use of the loan market. He would have been in serious demand, good we had our finger on the pulse.

I can't believe no-one has mentioned we're undefeated again last weekend.

Bilic has us on track alright. Let's see if he can keep up that run midweek and next weekend.

Walking away with the division, he doesn’t need a desperate team trip away to try and salvage their season.

Maybe had an agreement set up and as Gad says they are going well.

Maybe BIlic can call in from wherever?
