We can’t compete with Brentford, we only have about 5000 more seats than them.

How many major traffic flyovers essentially woven into the fabric of the stadium do we have, though?

    Ah HA! Thought not.

A number of mid table to lower Prem sides (Newcastle, Palace and Southampton being others) have shown how to get results against City without completely parking the bus throughout. It seems the tactics are to accept that you are going to get sub-30% possession and City are going to rain 25+ shots on your goal, BUT if you defend well, en masse
at times but intelligently and manage to keep the losing margin (if there is one) down to no more than one goal and restrict City’s multiple shots to only a handful of clear-cut chances and/or shots on target you might be able to frustrate them into playing sloppily and conceding chances of your own. Easier said than done of course, but it seems against City on most occasions we weren’t even trying to do that!

And even in the home games when we didn’t lose by much (save the one in the Pozzo debut Prem season) the scoreline flattered us thanks to Foster or uncharacteristically poor City finishing (Bachmann played in goal last season but I don’t think that really made any difference). The away games up until the relegation seasons we were more defensive than really outclassed but it was still the usual zero points and next to no attacking threat.

We've got four more games after the WC before the January Window opens for us to do no business in. Millwall and Hull at the Vic, with Swansea and Huddersfield away. Realistically, depending on how many of our crocked players actually recover over the next month - how many points would you expect to get going by current form? I would say if we want to go for top two - 10 or 12. To stay in the playoffs until January maybe 9 at a push 8. However, our record at Swansea is not the best, we generally don't turn up against struggling sides, with Hull and Huddersfield currently two of those. Millwall will be licking their lips over a protential double over us. Could be a testing four games.

Norwich in there too which will be before we think about signing anyone .

Three clear of Blackburn and seven clear of third. A bit like us they had a slow start but to be fair to Kompany he's really got them playing now. Blackburn were not awful, they just couldn't deal with Burnley's press. Sitting pretty at the top as we go into the break, they could be the side to catch if not emulate. However until we get our better players back we are going to have lacklusture games like yesterday sprinkled in with the odd decent performance. Playoffs would be a good aim for us right now, as with our never ending injury list we would have to fight to stay in the top six let alone the top two. Overall though, being sat in 4th place is either pretty good or it shows how crap this division is compared to the weekly slaughters we had last season.

A draw would have been preferable. The game changed when Gallagher went off injured.

I think we'll get 5 or 6 points on current form and with current injury list.

Hopefully some time with Bilic will help improve us over the next month.

Edwards the front runner for the job down the road, very interesting, on the one hand, **** him if he takes it, on the other, what do you expect when you treat someone so disposably!

If scum town have the players to fit the "system" he tried to implement here, he might do well. I have/had nothing against RE as a person, he was a very likable guy and I am sure once he finds his feet in upper level management he will go on from strength to strength. It was however way too early in his career to manage a Championship side/ex-PL side filled with shirkers/cowards and show boaters. It was obvious he was out of his depth at this level. We were a mess when Edwards came in and still a mess when he left. Bilic has steadied the ship, but we are far from playing top football.

Absolutely. Pozzo's have created an impossible environment. I'd like to think Bilic is tough enough to deal with their **** at least.

As for Edwards - nice person, but scum for eternity if he goes to them.

He'd be a fool to take that job.

Lose 3 games on the bounce and the scummers will be howling.

The same as we would if that little shortarse beardyshit in the anorak had come here instead of going to Southampton.

I think his system will be a good fit for Luton who frequently played a 3 at the back system under Jones. However I feel Jones was a superb motivator who often got another level out of that Luton team, I don't know Edwards personally but to me he seems too nice and lacks that little bit of aggression that Jones has that he instills on his players which may lose them a little bit of an edge.

If we're honest, other than half a season in League Two, Edwards has shown nothing that indicates he is a decent coach. He smiles a lot, is media trained to an inch of his life and has read a few management skills books.

He'll go there, suck up to their fans and ultimately fail once he is called upon to do things like get his team to play in a defined, recognisable system with a coherent style of play and make in-game changes when his side are struggling. Can't wait.

Perfect description Clive. I shall have to wean myself off my own very bland 'Merthyr Midget' tag I've been applying to NJ. Thank you!

You might well be right generally Reids about Bedfordshire's Mr Motivator but I'm equally sure there would be quite a few players listening to that whiny, entitled, excuse-riddled shortarse for just a few seconds who would be more than willing to punch his lights out too. Just a thought!
