Said it after I watched the first 45mins of their game against Lut*n. Burnley are absolutely toothless upfront. All possession and moving the ball, but nothing up too. They desperately need 2 strikers.

They definitely need 1 I think. Barnes/J-Rod are good quality hold up options at this level but they need a goalscorer.

I really did try to tell you lot how ***** this league is. 3 games against the best this league has to offer, while we're in a big transition, and we come away with 7 points and 1 goal conceded!

With Crapcart! And Dumberly! And Tw*tmann! And Tosserembe! Or whatever you want to call these decent Championship players that will continue to contribute to good results.

7 points from three tough games with a new coach blooding youngsters while adapting older players to a new approach.

    Very positive early signs.

I'm trying to get #watfordsnumbernine trending on Twitter with messages of Watford love for our former Captain ahead of Tuesdays game. We all know a fired up Troy could be a real problem for anyone so a big of reverse psychology hopefully will do the trick!

It's like Kompany copied Peps training sessions and philosophy but missed all the attacker sessions. Didn't have a clue what to do with it in the final third

Yes. There's a phrase, isn't there: 'Horses for courses'. Pep's method works very well with world-class players in every position. But this is Burnley..

I agree positive signs, the difference being we would have had nil points had we been in the premier league and played those three games, obviously we would had had say at least three better players in certain positions but last night some of the many Burnley chances would have been taken especially when we were down to 10 men, against WBA a decent goal scorer would have got on the end of something for them and in the Sheffield United game it would have been a smash and grab scenario the likes we saw many times in the last few seasons.

The gulf between the PL and championship is so huge now that properly managed teams coming down with motivated players will always be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. We on the current showing even if we lose Sarr have a fantastic chance of having a great season, I do however look forward to being more than one goal ahead at in a game especially in the last few minutes when the opposition to date lump everything towards our goal.

    And his touchline behaviour.

Kompany was all over the place particularly first half !!

Anywhere but in his technical area.

4th official had to go chasing after him a few times .

    Probably had heat exhaustion.
He had a jacket on throughout the game.
Mind you RE had a t shirt and a half zip top.
They must have ice blood like Borg.

Cathcart, Bachman and Kayembe played well last night. I don’t personally think Cleverley did but he was match winner and a brilliant finish.

Please don’t tell me you are going to carry on like this though every time one or more of them puts in a good championship performance. Your postings about Zinkernagel over a whole season every time he was rested were tedious beyond belief.

You rate them, some of us don’t think they will deliver over a 46 game season. You don’t need to keep doing Rous style victory laps. If Cathcart/Clevs play consistently well all season I’m happy to admit I’m wrong,

Hats off to Sema, I thought he played well last night. He just had this tenacity and drive that gives fans a boost that he gives a **** and wants to win. Choudhury was exactly the kind of player we need. His recovery work was top class and is a real asset to the team. With Dennis gone and Sarr potentially leaving before the window closes, I would like to see Hungbo brought in and utilised more.

I'll continue to support our players, thanks. Assume you'll be keeping quiet and encouraging others to do so next time Sema has a poor game?

No one is forcing you to read them, feel free to ignore.

I don't even particularly rate them, I just know they're capable of performing at this level, which they are, and have shown they are time and time again, and will continue to do so.

Sema is a poor player in my view. I’m not going to defend him when he has his inevitable 3 poor games out of 5 in the championship and people are critical. His contract extension was absurd and that frustration is understandable.

One thing I do agree with is the nicknames for players being tiresome, although not sure I’ve heard tosseraembe before.

The standard is way below the prem but fortune has also played a big part in those 7 points. Great results but we have been outplayed by 2 of the 3 teams we have faced and scored with pretty much our only attempts on target in the last 2 games.
Great results but let’s not get carried away. We only had five shots in the last 2 games, about half of our opponents.

I’m not having it that we were “outplayed” by Burnley last night. I think people’s judgment is clouded by the onslaught in the last 15 minutes after the sending off. The first 30 minutes of that game were of a terribly low quality - both teams were awful. We improved up to the goal and looked more relaxed after half-time but should have pushed more for a second goal.

As for our opponents being promotion contenders, I thought Sheff U were ordinary in the first game but Burnley were worse. They really should have scored when they were on top at the end but didn’t often look capable, making many mistakes in the process. West Brom were much, much better, albeit at home, but even they were lacking the forwards to score more goals in a game they should have won comfortably.

Agree WBA outplayed us and fashioned plenty of goalscoring chances to boot, but what did Burnley have to show for all their possession up to the 81st minute? Zilch. Sat in the Rookery I genuinely felt no peril at all as their waves of attack broke down time and time again 30yds from goal. Sure, they were dominant when they went a man up but that's no mark of greatness. Last night felt like an attritional game played out between two evenly matched teams, albeit with different strengths, and it was a classic of the 'one goal will win it' type of match that often comes along in the Championship. We definitely weren't outplayed last night.

They were dominating us before the sending off and we were hanging on. Did we even create a chance in the second half ? Maybe it’s Edwards tactics to just focus 100% on protecting a lead or maybe their possession game is better suited than our “press” in that sort of heat.

Similar to 2 years ago we are starting the season in binary. In our 1st 9 games 2 years ago only once did either side score more than 1 goal.
