    Sheff Utd (H) W 1-0
    WBA (A) D 1-1
    Burnley (H) W 1-0
    Birmingham (A) D 1-1
    Preston (A) D 0-0
    QPR (H) L 2-3
    Middlesbrough (H) W 2-1
    Rotherham (A) D 1-1
    Blackburn (A) L 2-0

Thirteen points from ten games. Beating the would-be champions at home, winning in our big 100 year game (still a feat), unbeaten in first five games. Yes, the Blackburn performance was completely unacceptable but Edwards was given no time to recitify that result (although Bilic thrashed Stoke 4-0 in his debut game) there was no telling that we could of done the same or just got a win under him. I would probably consider those ten games a successful start, especially looking back on how the season panned out. We were lucky to get the point(s) in a few of them, but we still got them. Football is a results game - and we put 13pts on the board out of our first 30 avaliable. Football wasn't the best but it might of improved, we will never know now. Even after the QPR loss at the Vic we managed to pick up four points from two tricky fixtures.

I know hindsight must be a wonderful thing, but I still feel Gino was too trigger happy. If it really was down to a falling out of the ownership, then yes I do understand it. But based on the football on the pitch and the early points in the bag surely the results were half decent for a new manager at this level. I sort of agree with others though in the fact it's a shame he is doing well with one of the worst possible sides. But it is proof that if you stick with a manager and believe in his plan and back it as much as possible, you can be successful even with a bang average side, which unfortunatly, is exactly what we are now.

It was a disgrace then and it looks even worse now for Gino. The fact Scott stayed silent when it was clear he was massively fecked over on Edwards getting sacked is the cherry on the top.

Their promotion and subsequent fully paid relegation will ensure they are more successful than us for the next 3-5 years.

I presume there is more to him going than a few iffy results .

We know Duxbury has pretty much been sidelined since and Giaretta still hangs around like a bad smell so obviously Pozzo is on his side .

    Hopefully they won’t be then.

Still got one more game ..

Sunderland fans haven’t taken it well.

Will be interesting to see (if they go up) if the owner sticks with Rob, or they go down the well trodden path of getting blinded by the PL riches and sacking a decent manager in a desperate but futile attempt to stay there.

One benefit if Luton go up is we'll not need to board up the GT statue for any of our matches next season.

Luton clear favourites for me. Desperately hoping they don't but fully expecting them to go up.

Yes they have become what we used to be. Stronger team than the sum of their parts.
If it wasn't them, it would be a great story, non-league to prem in so few years.

Not sure anyone's said Boro will automatically roll them over.

You're right about form but I'm pretty sure there was chatter that day Boro fielded a weaker team against Luton (no idea if that's true overall but Akpom stayed on the bench) and only lost to a jammy penalty which Morris blatantly dived for.

Either way though, I'd want Luton to play Boro over Coventry because they're second highest scorers in the league.

TS reporting Mowbray about to be sacked, fairly ridiculous if true (yes they were ****, but they came up from L1).

Struber and Farioli in the frame, so fewer options for us once VI is sacked.

Crazy but then can we talk ?!

Mind you it is Talksport .

Maybe @Malteser2 put in a good word about the latter ?

Far more likely that Mowbray will be our third, final roll of the dice, coach next season I'd say.

We've come close before but not quite made the 'sack a coach before playing a game', and we do need to take steps to protect our reputation as trendsetters in this arena - last season we were the devil for sacking two coaches in the course of a Prem season, this year something like 3 teams have followed suit after our spectacular liberation of the post-coaching space.

We know it's going to happen and as much as I hate them it's 100% down to us releasing Edwards. I hope they get to the Premier League and stay there for a couple of seasons so that I can hate the Pozzo's just a little bit more.

C'mon, own up. Who is the person on here who had their hand almost around Edwards' throat last night?

Do you remember when Martin Samuel wrote thst Watford represented all that was wrong with football? We were very upset, but I think most would agree with him now.

N.B. Not quite everything. We don't have a Gulf state owner.

...we don't, but we are praying for one, and would welcome one with open arms. Gulf state or if not Russian or Chinese.

Yes but then this would be their 1st stint in the Premier League if they went up, whereas we have been there 8 seasons in total. How many years was it since they last finished above us, 34?

Football comes and goes, often it doesn't fall the way you want it to but it would be boring if it did!

Not sure given the reaction on here and elsewhere to the Man City owners and Newcastle take over people would welcome that though but obviously everyone is different.

Some might not mind too much about the morals of such ownership if we have billons to spend .

Not that it would ever happen.
Seems to have that classic let’s not celebrate too hard with another game to come manger face/mind set .

Yes of course. Would be huge for them. My point was that it would be the start of a period of local domination by them - hopefully not 34 years....

L*ton obviously have a good chance, but Boro have known they'll be in the playoffs for a while now, so I'm not sure they'd have been playing at the same intensity. Mind you, the same is true of L*ton, although it only took a dodgy pen for them to beat Boro

I find this interesting as I could just never feel this way about Luton doing well. I’m not sure how old you are but I wonder if it’s a generational thing? However downbeat we feel, I just can’t imagine anyone who grew up in the 80s, and who experienced the rivalry with Luton season in, season out, ever feeling anything but gutted at the prospect of Luton succeeding while we’re floundering.

I agree - plus, whatever the form of the sides, we know from bitter experience that you can never predict how teams are going to react to the pressure of the final. I’m sure most people thought we were in the driving seat going into the final against Palace after that end to our semi final.
