Fosters best formation is 433, he looks isolated and can't produce the same levels in a 442.

I think maybe (as well as taking an inordinately long time to recover from his injury) Chalobah initially misjudged the standard of the league?

I mean the league is crap generally speaking, but most teams are generally well organised and most teams press you relatively hard. He initially seemed to take far too much time on the ball, like he believed he has more time than he actually did. He’s been good at the reactive bits from the start, like getting back and getting blocks in, he just took a while to get up to speed when he is actually on the ball and has some time to think about what to do.

Hughes is one of those Pirlo type players, who always seems to have as much time as he needs and can outmanoeuvre most players, Chalobah seems to be getting back to that sort of ability, at long last.

Pre-contract signed. Could do a job for us coming on in the last few minutes. Wise head on older shoulders. :D

I think when Nate came back from injury he had to relearn how to be the player he was. It didnt come back automatically. There was one game, might've been Everton away, where it was like he had 2 left feet. I felt so bad for him. It mustve been incredibly difficult to be born with such a talent, take it to the point he was at under Silva where he was literally 'fookin amazing' and then be robbed of it overnight. Come back from injury and not be able to play at the same level for a long time. It's really heartwarming to see him back to being the player he was born to be. So happy for him! The goal against Cardiff is up there with the best of them.

It fits in with the theory that Troy is a narcissist. Narcissists are exceptionally talented at creating a narrative that portrays them in the best light possible and also subtly manipulating, coercing and pressuring others to buy into that narrative. The narrative was Mr Watford, talisman, great leader. You could argue it was true in 2014/15. Maybe even 15/16. But after that it simply wasn't. We've had over 4 years of the vast majority of supporters and people at the club buying into a narcissist's fake narrative. If he was such a great leader why did so many players underperform so often? Why did we get relegated with a squad that should have stayed up last season?
No one chooses to be a narcissist. It's not a person's fault that they are a narcissist, it's a personality disorder often triggered by childhood trauma. No one should be looked down on for having a personality disorder but in the case of a narcissist, robust damage limitation is required to neutralize the toxic impact they can have on the people around them or organization they are part of. I'm sure Troy didnt set out to undermine the club. He probably doesn't intentionally do most of it. To him its just 'Troy being Troy'. But for the club it has been a huge problem and we may not have seen the last of it.....

Yes, I remember Troy talking about him in interview and saying his natural ability was amazing and he would be a £30m player when he was fully recovered. Maybe that boat has sailed but it's good to see his confidence coming back.

Deeney is injured which means he isn't playing - but he is still at the training ground, around the squad and everything else so if he was such a negative influence on team spirit then that would still be the case. The actual games are a small part of it.

There is no doubt we are better playing with a three up top and as Pedro as number 9. I'd hope for everyone that Deeney moves on in the summer, but this insistence that he has been so problematic is without substance. It wasn't that long ago people were giving him pelters for picking the team - now we are winning he doesn't seem to be getting praise for his winning team selection so that myth seems to have died a death now it doesn't suit.

The biggest drag with Deeney is that he is on such a big salary, but that is the contract he was given. It wouldn't surprise me to see him leave on a 'Robbie Fowler' type deal in the summer where he plays permanently for someone else but remains on our payroll.

Don't underestimate players who left in January and what positive impact that has ended up having on team spirit.

I know it’s one of those things that’s impossible to prove, but I can’t help but feel we wouldn’t have won that game under Ivic.

At 1-1 approaching the final few minutes, we’d probably have felt a draw was a decent reward and got very defensive.

I remember HB1 posting a great quote from GT a few weeks ago, along the lines of ‘we won because we were prepared to lose’.

Ivic’s over-cautious approach did my head in, as you might have noticed lol (though I feel he deserves credit for laying the foundations defensively for our promotion push).

How much freer and more liberating our tactics feel these days.

Yes we lost a point v QPR at the death in trying to push for the winner, but memories of that are now well eclipsed by Saturday’s epic victory.

Deeney getting injured is the best possible outcome for us this season. When he's fit, he plays - it is ordained. That completely neuters our attacking threat. If he's ever dropped, through some herculean display of willpower by a brave manager, he seems to foment discontent in the background. When he's injured and as such is completely unavailable for selection, everything just seems to go smoothly and he's probably a positive motivating influence. We need our world-renowned dodgy medical team to pull their fingers out here and secure a very long-term layoff.

I was commenting it was specifically Nemesis rather than the gods generically who punished Hubris. Although she was subsumed into the Olympian pantheon, there is a lot of evidence she pre-dated Zeus in the mythology of the Attican region.

The Kid has no doubt instilled a feel good factor to the team and that is getting our talented players to play the way we have always known they can, so for that he has done a great job so far. Having said that I am still not convinced of his technical know how, and IMO it is only because of the fact that we have so many technically good players that we are riding as high as we are at present.

Yes The Kid has brought harmony to the team which has brought out the players natural abilities, but all The Kid has really done is wound the players up and let them go, which is good man management, but IMO the jury is still out on his technical coaching ability.

It depends on the teller, I guess. Plenty of stories of human hubris being personally punished by Olympians, but it was Nemesis' main job.

If we get promoted I think there is about a 1% or less chance that Munoz stays on as coach, so we may never know if he’s a truly good coach or not.

We finished well clear of Norwich last season and beat them twice in the process. We’ve lost a great player in Delefelou, Peyrera is no real miss as he gave up long ago, Doucoure and Capoue are quality players, but Doucoure had been rubbish for a while and his heart wasn’t in it, likewise Capoue when he did play in the championship.

To counter that we’ve gained a CB who is better than anything we had last season, we’ve effectively swapped a non goal scoring forward who negatively affected tactics with a young Brazilian star and we have a rejuvenated Chalobah in midfield.

Net/net I’d say we’re still down on last season, but not by a huge sum. I’d place is about where Norwich are all things considered and they’ve walked the league.

So my point is our team, all things considered is good enough to have done what Norwich have done, so whatever Munoz does or doesn’t do I don’t think we’ll really know anything for sure. He’d need a shot in the PL to confirm that and he’ll never get that with us.

Well, to be fair I think the point people were making (rightly or wrongly) was that he was picking himself which he obviously can't do now he's injured!

Also, worth remembering his post match interview after the Coventry game where he said the team needed to play more long balls up to him. Thank goodness that didn't happen.

As an a-side as anyone seen the Tik-Tok the club posted? I'm not sure i'm comfortable with it and our account as a whole. It's basically mocking the Cardiff Keeper for letting in a FK that is straight at him. I really don't like that element of football fan culture that has emerged in the last few years. It will always come back to haunt us in the same way Lerma's emoji is coming back to haunt him atm.

Yeah, I actually saw it through seeing a Cardiff fan complaining about it, and despite his embarrassing bleating about us not deserving to win, he was right in that it's a weirdly provocative and pathetic bit of goading, especially from the winning team. You can do it as much as they like if they really want, obviously, but it's a bit weird coming from an official account and just leaves yourself/us open to looking even more like ***** somewhere not too far down the line.

I find it odd that at our club you have the senior leadership team who are famously tight lipped about most things, and then even when they do things like fans forums thy just bat any criticism away and don’t give any real answers. Then on the other had you’ve got our social media team who regularly post embarrassing off-key stuff, when just saying nothing at all would’ve been far more preferable.
