'Pozzo family' have made first offer for defender - Deemed 'insufficient', club want €5m - Sport Witness Looking forward to the jokes on this one.
Impossible to make our defence against Citeh look more soppy, even with the addition of someone called Soppy.
He's not in their squad to play Torino tomorrow. I assumed this would be a signing for Udinese but maybe Ngakia could do with a full season in the Championship first. Although I'd be happy to keep him here as I think he'll be great with a bit more work done on him.
I highly doubt he’s coming here to be our no. 2 in place of Ngakia given that Jezza is 18 months older and has played dozens more senior games. Wouldn’t make sense to give one young right-back the chance to go and get experience by replacing him with one that’s even less experienced.
Then it would be an even bigger waste of potential to leave him stagnating on a bench instead of Ngakia.
No my point is what if he's better than what we already have? The amount of appearances and age of a player aren't an indication of how good they are. I'm sure Deeney and Gray have played hundreds more games than JP but I think we all know who we'd rather have playing!
Wouldn’t matter, Xisco doesn’t play young players (apart from JP when every other forward was injured). But if he’s better than Kiko and actually gets game time then fair enough. Long shot though.
Xisco doesn't play young players who aren't up to it. He wasn't exactly handed a a sackful of Sanchos. We've yet to see if he doesn't play young players who are worth playing.
Unfortunately we weren't in a position to risk anything, Ngakia in particular was unlucky that he had probably the best RB in the league to compete with (and someone who has a telepathic relationship with Sarr no less). Could Wilmot have played more? Perhaps, he could at least have been first drop if anything happened to either Sierralta or WTE, but it's all academic now, he's a good Championship defender roughly on a par with our other good Championship defenders, but who probably would have struggled to get into the team in the Prem even if he'd had a full season of games behind him
I wouldn't mind a right-back being brought in, but since it's definitely not the priority, ideally it would have to be someone who is a definite step up on Kiko and Ngakia, not an untested youngster, no matter how good he might be
Jeremy got caught way out of position for Arsenal's first goal I believe. If he's going to be flying up the wing to join in attacks the midfield are going to have to learn very quickly that cover needs to shift. Kiko got caught so many times last time in the Premier and we wasn't at all good at covering then. Thus leaving Dawson to not only cover his position but Kikos too. We all remember what happened that season.
Hughes dropped into the right back area last season allowing Kiko to get forward as much as he liked. I'm assuming it was coached so Etebo, Louza or whoever we sign is going to need to pick that up quickly. If we play the same way this season.
TBF to the lad if you playing attacking fbs, which we do, its the CDMs role to drop in to cover the space left by an attacking run. It was just a pre season freindly after all.
I hoped Wilmot was up to it. But he couldn't win a consistent place under Ivic or when he was out on loan the previous year. Ngakia perhaps, but Femenia was having the season of his life for us.
I'm assuming it was one of the coaching staff while Xisco spent most of the time in his office trying to do his own shoelaces.
I think he had terrible luck when at Swansea, impressed when he did play but had injury issues all season, and then they went and got Guehi on loan in January
Kiko also formed a really good partnership with Sarr in front of him that Ngakia didn't when he played.
