I'm not going anymore. I have paid for the STs so they have my money for this season, but fans ranting on Twitter and here aren't gonna raise any eyebrows.

People who feel the same way I do about the state of our club need to vote with their feet. Perhaps 5000 empty seats will be less easy for our owners to ignore than IBB's emails and calls for communication

I said to my mate next to me that we would leave if they scored again (at 2-1) and literally ten seconds later they did, so we did. We were very very far from the only ones - personally it seemed like more than you would expect in a usual game in a usual situation - Occupation and Vicarage Road were full by the time we reached them. Maybe I'm just in dreamworld, but to me it felt somewhat notable. Perhaps that can be built on.

I was thinking the same, the club have got in a spin and have no answers other than continuing the same whack-a-manager and scattergun recruitment policy which got them there in the first place.

Thing is the seats have to be empty in the 1st minute. Not the 85th. Only one of those will make Gino sit up and take note.

I'm too cheap, I've paid so feel like I need to go. I'd happily take £20 a game for it right now though.

Looked like there were plenty empty from the start tonight to be fair. Folk will be back for Arsenal though. Nice to see their favourite team play.

Rough estimate - what would it cost the club to refund every fan's season ticket? £10m or something?

‘Club is a shambles from top to bottom’, Ucko has declared this evening.

I’m sure another free shirt will cheer him up and he’ll once again claim that he only goes for the social aspect by Saturday.

Our fans don’t care enough about losing. If you dare loudly criticise the players, tactics or ownership at a game, you get tutted at by some dad.

Was about to boycott the rest of the season but just heard next week we’re unveiling the naming of the subs bench after the bloke who used to cut the grass in the 90s

So proud to support this amazing club, the owners really get how much of a family we are

Don’t forget to subscribe for the new from the COG end podcast tomorrow morning for an exclusive interview with Jason Norville

No way, how many ST holders do we have roughly? 11-12k? Median price would be roughly £400? That's £4.8 million give or take, don't think it gets close to £10m.

The scoreboard advertising the "waiting list" for next seasons ST is hilarious, who tf is on that!?

I was working on about £650 for 14.5k but that was very very generous admittedly!

At £5m, personally I think the club should do it.

I've been to about 10 games this season and that is more than enough. Rather dangle my balls in a mincer than give another penny to this utter shambles of a club and completely waste my time and money on watching the spineless losers who play for us.

I think Norwich was the beginning of the end for me and Brighton just hammered it home that the 7 or so hours away from home, 90 odd mile round trip with a large chunk of that on the M25, just wasn't worth doing anymore.
Saturday I didn't bother looking for the score until 6pm ish and, whilst pleased we won, just didn't have the genuine uplift it's historically given me.
I made a concious decision this morning not to go tonight, which is the first home game I've missed (where there wasn't a genuine reason not to be there) in the past 7 years.
I took up the Direct Debit option for my ST this year as, like everyone Lockowns hammered income over the past 18 months, so I've just messaged the club saying I'll be cancelling it and they can in turn sell on my ticket for the remaining fixtures.
Football, or at least the Premier League football really has trashed it for fans and I think covid and "Project Restart" really lifted the wool from the eyes of many fans, myself included.
However, football at its heart is still a great experience and I'm getting to see that through the eyes of my eldest lad who at 7 has really gotten into it in a big way and it's made me realise that having a kick about with him on a Saturday or going to our local non league club will be far more rewarding than seeing the club I have loved and supported for all my life decend into the version we see now.

  19. I've got my ST but it still costs me a lot to travel down for home games so boycotting would still save me a lot if money.

That being said, I'm boycotting by default for the next couple of games due to a wedding and my son's birthday.

So I'm definitely with you all for the next 2 games!

Can you just cancel the DD? What are the implications, if any?

  22. HampshireHorn84

From a true contract perspective when it comes to DD's you are not beholden to pay for any service/product you have not received. So as the club always collects payments in advance (start of the month) technically should I cancel it today it means I'm unable to be at any future games.

From what I can see the club has no credit agreement as part of the season ticket deal, so there will be no ability to affect my credit rating. Black mark against my name/FanID quite possibly.

I believe there's 4 payments left so really a nominal sum of £40 due in DD but one that if I don't have to pay I won't. By me cancelling I'm giving the club the opportunity to sell on my seat which could net them over £200. We'll see what they say, it may result in me not getting a season ticket for next year which in all honesty I'm just not that bothered about having anyway (more midweek games in the Championship doesn't actually suit me with work/family life)

I’d be careful cancelling direct debit as you owe them the money for season ticket so you might trash your credit score?

Edit - just saw your follow up post but I’d be amazed if you could do this with no penalty.

    The T&Cs say this:

So they can charge a missed payment fee, and I don't see why they couldn't chase it as a normal debt.

I'll see how I get on and let anyone interested know! I'm certainly not planning on trashing my credit score!

At worst there will be another two empty seats in the SEJ, and whilst I'm sure that me not being there won't make to much of a difference, as the saying goes "every avalanche begins with the movement of a single snowflake" . . . . So guess I'm setting myself up to be called a snowflake!

The empty seats I saw on the videos last night was pretty telling

I'll pay the ****s but I'm not giving them my time.

I've seen one home win all season (missed the Villa game at the start) and more dismal performances than I can remember (Leeds, Wolves, Liverpool, Norwich, Brighton, West Ham).

I chose not to go last night and I'm so glad I did.

It would be idiotic at this point to waste more of my time and money going to watch us capitulate.

If some people enjoy wasting 2.5 hours of their week to watch the sort of **** we've become accustomed to, then good for them, but it's not for me anymore.

I'm taking an extended sabbatical after probably nearly 30 years of regular home attendance.

Seriously, don’t cancel the DD. Whatever you do. Companies might end up not chasing you for the debt but they certainly can trash your credit rating, which can take years to clear.

EDIT - I see Jumbo has said the same. To put this in perspective, I paid off a credit card years and years ago, didn’t realise there was an interest amount left of a few quid. The company didn’t tell me, hit me with a non-payment on my credit score which took nearly 10 years to disappear. All for less than a tenner.

The empty seats will stack up.

Either people genuinely enjoy going to matches like yesterday and Norwich, because of the socials and beers, in which case, crack on, or they have a choice to make.

For most of the fans, I'm sure attending future games this season will be based on either hope - a forlorn hope that we somehow do something different than we've done all season, or routine. They are used to being at the Vic at 3pm every other Saturday and will continue.

I ask people in these latter groups to think again and stay away.

We aren't gonna get 3000 fans into an organised protest and even if we did, the demands are fragmented and immeasurable.

    'Be less ****'
    'Sack the manager'
    'Try harder in games'
    'Buy fewer **** players'
    'Pay off our debts'
    'Sack Duxberry'
    'Communicate with the fans'
    'Restore club identity'
'Stop giving long contracts to old **** players'
    'Buy some defenders'
    'Invest in youth'
    'Sell the club'

    Etc. Etc.

There's myriad things different fans want, but the unifying factor amongst many is, we are bloody fed up.

The only logical protest from my perspective is an empty stadium.

A sad situation to see what you guys are saying, but my guess is that most of you will change your minds in the cold light of day after your angry outbursts of last night.

I had to give up my season ticket several years ago for personal reasons and I wish I never had to. So think again guys because once you give it up it is very hard to get it back.

Having said that, if you do give them up hopefully that will be good news for me as I have been on the waiting list for over two years now and it might improve my chance of getting the four I want for me, my son and my two grandsons.

  33. There was that non attendance issue a couple of years ago which started off the whole releasemyseat@watfordfc.com email requirement if you couldn't make it.

Any fans missing a number of games were at risk of losing their season ticket (was it more than 6 in a season?).

This was mainly due to glory fans buying season tickets but only going to big games, making the stands very empty for a lot of the smaller matches.

The releasemyseat requirement is still in effect as far as I know, but I guess I've no idea how that holds up if fans were to miss games more in protest than in quality of opposition though.

  34. GoingDown

I’d suggest that at least 50% of season ticket holders in the Family Stand aren’t Watford fans. So they won’t boycott anything.
