    He does lead by example.
Unfortunately it's a bloody awful example and it is visible throughout the squad and has been for a number of years.
Kiko, missed undoubtedly but walked off the pitch at Selhurst Park a few years back and did so again last season.
Freddie, has rarely taken on a man since he was injured and now trying to avoid injury for the football cup in thingy.
Deeney set numerous poor examples of leadership by bellowing at his team mates if he didn't like the pass or throwing his arms up in the air.
Kabasele is not alone he just does it more often and is almost always likely to screw up.
A dire reflection as others have said that he is the captain.
    Speaks volumes.

It's a reflection of the arrogance of the ownership, who seem to think that if you throw enough players and coaches at the squad it will eventually come off - but only spend money on the ones you think you can make a profit on.

No thought to tactics, squad balance or whether the busloads of players they ship in have any fight or desire to play for the club.

Just a thought, but apart from Pedro, which players actually have a song for them? I'm struggling to think of any, because the fans see no determination or character in them to warrant it.

There's still the flimsy "Craig Cathcart" ditty that occasionally appears.
However that apart you're right I can't think of any.

There's the Hamza Choudhury one too but that's about it.

I've just watched the highlights and we did create some good chances. Sarr missed an open goal, Bayo had two decent chances and Louza had an early chance too. So, we could have scored more than once in this game. But the most concerning thing for me is the lack of fight. The attitude stunk in the closing stages of that game. Second goal Kabs gives up. He should be staying with his man and at the very least making it hard to him to get his cross in. If he does that, they don't score as the ball doesn't get crossed. The third goal comes from a throw on. Choudhury swings a leg and misses it then Yates is suddenly 1 v 1 with WTE on the edge of our box. What's Sierralta doing? Yes, just half-heatedly trotting back. He should be busting a gut to run over and help WTE out. If he does that, Yates then has two players to beat and probably doesn't score. Both those goals were down to attitude. We didn't work hard enough to close down the chances. The players are in a general malaise and it's unforgivable.

I can forgive mistakes, but I cannot forgive a lack of effort.

Excuse the terribly blurred image. Can anyone explain how WTE ends up in this position facing his own goal before their third? It's astonishing how bad we are at the back.

It was like when Mo Salah danced his way through our defence that time.

Except this time it wasn’t Salah, it was a bloke named Jerry.

It’s almost like keeping relegation experts the season after a hopeless and embarrassing season for them and expecting them to improve isn’t going to work out.

He's not very good, which explains that one. However, while I can accept that to a degree, I cannot accept the slow jogging back from Sierralta. Why didn't he just run over to help his team mate out? There were many examples of that type of apathy from too many players on Saturday.

Sounds like Sierallta was injured (again). In fairness it's a really well taken goal even if WTE should never end up facing his own goal. A lot has been said for the second goal but the first goal is also incredibly bad. From where I was stood you could see the big fella drift over to Kamara and the cross went to him which of course he wins and puts back in the danger area. In there is the Blackpool forward in acres of space, neither WTE or Kabasele anywhere near him. It's not poor defending, it's Sunday league defending
It's been some time since I was that upset over a performance but that last 25 mins was as bad as I've seen for a very long time considering the opposition. I'm still ******* annoyed now! God help us vs the scum which I'm grateful to be missing. Good luck Bilic old boy, you're going to need it

Wierdly, I think we played our best football of the season between their first goal and half time and when Louzza equalised I thought the game was there for the taking.
Then the 2nd half happened, we were absolute carp. What I can't accept was the complete lack of effort which is the minimum requirement.
The only players to emerge with any credit were Bachman, Gosling bearing in mind he was out of position and making his first start, Louzza and Asprilla.
The centre backs were awful and I don't think Davis even broke sweat.
So down with this lot and I am dreading the scum, they will be up for it and I fear our bunch of wasters will roll over and capitulate.

Luton will come with what 2/2.5k fans all absolutely raring to go. We will roll over all timid and not have our belly scratched, we will have it stamped on
I reckon a lucky point against Millwall is all we are getting from the next three games and probably half the town smashed up and looted as well

The problem is, the rot spreads. We keep the rotten core in the club, bring in a few fresh faces and soon, they too fall into the malaise.

The squad has needed root and branch overhaul for 4 seasons, but instead we've just had gradual decay in terms of overall quality, as any player with any sort of ability has been sold or moved to Udinese, whilst the incoming players have been on a steady downward trend.

This is the worst squad we've had in the past decade, by some way. Not just in terms of quality, which is some nebulous term used to describe the likes of JP, Louza and Sarr, who flatter to deceive but have only ever delivered mediocrity in any volume, but also in terms of the intangibles, such as spirit, guts, leadership, determination, brains etc.

It's a horrific assemblage of cowards, idiots, charlatans and frauds.

Yep. Cathcart, Kabasele and Cleverley are like viruses who infect incoming souls. Losers to a man who feast on their contract extensions. Thank goodness Foster retired at least.

Andy WFC hit the nail on head. We play some nice football at times on the attack, and there it ends.
Our lot think they're all classy players that can play a bit but have zero inclination to roll up their sleeves and graft.
As Bilic spelled out quite clearly, but I am very concerned that our manager had to come out with a media statement rather than deal with it in training.... Which just goes to show how bad the problem is.

Bilic seems pretty no-nonsense, but fair and wants to do a good job (unlike most of last season's managers who seemed to care even less than the players) - a bit like Jokanovic. One thing that might help is that failing at Watford is no longer something that damages your career, so he may actually tear into them and if they throw a hissy fit, play worse and he gets the sack, he hasn't lost.

Bilic stated that we have a good squad when he joined and that they want to win. They probably showed a bit of effort in the first week of training but now it's become clear to Bilic why we're in the mess we're in. A bog standard Championship team with a few good players surrounded by average dross. Unlike many Championship teams though, this bunch can't even match the workrate of Blackpool.

Bilic didn’t help himself by picking Kabasele (and making him captain) and a woefully out of form Kayembe. Or inexplicably taking Gosling off and putting Kabasele at RB.

Injuries or not, he’s made some bad choices already in just 3 games. He needs to do better as well.

I take less pleasure in bumping this post of yours because you're usually a decent poster, so I won't make a song and dance about it elsewhere. But I still had to give you a little reminder. ;)

I don't think we had any choice but yes he did struggle particularly early on.

Not helped by more experienced players around him who should have known what was coming.

If we were relying on him being the defensive leader against a strong physical side then maybe that does sum up our problems.
