I said this very thing this afternoon. If he plays, then I think the rumour is ********. I really hope i'm right.

 

It's the largest club in NL when it comes to active fans. Whenever a tv show has 5 players of the week, and of them is from Feyenoord, he wins. But you can maybe fight 'fire with fire' like some did when Rick Karsdorp had interest from AS Roma and their fans flooded his social media pages to welcome him, by randomly picking one of our players like they did wit El Shaarawy:

All in all i get the frustration and i understand that this would have been the year he might had gotten his honest chance. But the deal still isn't done. And i'm sure that if it fails, Steven is the kind of guy to maybe be upset for 1 day and then focusses on Watford with 120 percent devotion.

 

I am only being crude but I totally get your point at the end. With a new manager and new players maybe he given it a second thought and his seemingly 'desperately wanting to leave' attitude may have changed

 

Who the **** are Feyenorth? Is that who we got in the Carling Cup 2nd round?

 

If you have to make up player names like 'Rick Karsdorp', who sounds more like the main character in the Dutch version of 'The Walking Dead', then I suggest that your 120 percent devotion thing is also made up.

You're being admirably patient with our forum clientele, friend. Apologies for the more acidic/snarky comments on here, but I think at the end of the day us and Feyenoord supporters just want what's best for their club which is to have Berghuis on the books. I really hope he stays and has a proper go at it because he's never had a fair shot in a Watford shirt, but I certainly don't begrudge you your hope.

According to the Twitterverse we've dropped our asking price to do a deal with Feyenoord. Either he must really want to go or we really want rid of him now.

 

Even though it's obvious that he wants to go back, it does appear that he's been very professional about it so for - no transfer request or public stropping, just carrying on taking an active part in preseason trusting the club will help him get his move if possible. Fair play to him

 

Was at the Community Open Day with the rest of the squad yesterday. So it may well be that the club insist on everyone going to these things but it's hardly the sign of a player that is on the verge of leaving either.

 

Fair play to him? He's contracted to us, it's the very minimum I expect from him and every other player contracted to WFC.

 

Your absolutely right but plenty of players have been utter cnuts to push forward a move. If he was told to stay it sounds like he's the kind of person who despite maybe being disappointed he would knuckle down and work for the team

 

I'm of the same mind as you but sadly just seems common these days to have players kicking off or finding ways to force moves. Anyone remember the behavior of Mike Williamson?

Damage was done under Flores when he refused to play him much, even as a misfiring team limped to a disappointing end to the season. Then we hired a manager who was famous for playing pretty much the only system where Berghuis couldn't fit in one way or the other.

He's just won his domestic league, established himself in the Dutch squad and will play a few games European football until they get knocked out. He took a pay cut to go on loan last season so I presume he's taking one again to leave permanently.

Seems fair enough really.

 

If we announced we were signing an international winger from the Dutch champions I think we'd all be excited.

I'm now left thoroughly underwhelmed by our front 3 options. It's basically Amrabat, a choice of fat guy and sicknote.

1. Let them know he's potentially wanted and therefore justify the price being asked for, and;
2. Give him a chance to say "no, I want to tough it out at Watford".
