I've been impressed when seeing him play for Florist. Deeney was always going on about his ability. He just got caught up in the roller-coaster and was never going to get near the squad. Would be very happy to see Britt return.

Utter rubbish. We had better strikers at the time and keeping him would have meant he'd probably be nothing like the player he is today as he wouldn't have played.

 

A lot of people were expecting him to be in the first team squad for the upcoming season, but we sold him over the summer! I can remember how shocked most people were, myself included, that we let him go, especially for the paltry amount we got for him.

I think he would have been a top PL striker by now had we kept him, and I think he still could be. The only doubt I have is his fitness as he has had quite a few injuries over the years.

 

Yes no way he could have got past Geijo or FF or Fabbrini or Acuna the following year.

 

quite. There's no way he would have had the game-time necessary to allow him to develop if he'd stayed with us. It was the best thing for all parties at the time.

 

Geijo, Fabbrini & Acuna didn't play much ether. Troy, Matty & FF had the front positions nailed down

Mainly as on the thread regarding his transfer - http://www.wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/assombalonga-to-peterborough.42731/page-4 - you question whether he'd have been able to replicate his League 1 start to the season in the Championship.

Your comments certainly don't sound like 'he was expected to be in the first team squad' or 'i think he would be PL by now' as you are suggesting here with your massive hindsight hat on.

That thread reminded me that I put money on Javier Acuna being the Championship's top scorer on the basis of one of his YouTube highlights videos. I believe he scored 0 league goals for us. He's now 28 and has just broken into the team at Ratchaburi Mitr Phol in the Thai top division. Hasn't scored for them either.

 

41 goals in 233 appearances over 11 years. I should've been a professional if he is.
