Think it was in the News of the World - Apparantley there are alot of clubs ready to make bids for Ashley Young in January :(

Doesn't suprise me. He has shown he can step up to the mark.

Whilst I wouldn't think Aidy will let any of our players go cheaply, don't think money is too much of an issue, if Ashley gets an offer he cant refuse I would hope that the club would let Ashley talk as having a player who does not want to play for the club is unproductive.

Saying that I don't think Ashley will want to move. Can he really be guaranteed first choice elsewhere? I'm sure he is happy in the club with the superb morale that we have. If we are safe at Xmas I think we will be a buying rather than selling club but towards the end of the season if our position looks as precarious as it does now I think he will go to further his career.

Whatever happens he has and continues to serve the club well and I for one will wish him luck.

He's a top quality player, and now he's in the shop window every week there's bound to be speculation and rumours about him. It's just another adjustment to make with living in the Premiership I suppose :(

Also he has at least 1 or is it 2 brothers in various squads. He is stll a youngster himself so that may make him stay around a while.

It was in the news of the world and they mentioned it was Fulham and Everton (I think) and they said that Aidy would not let him go for anything under £3.5 Million

if he had to go i wud prefer a player exchange rather than the cash - maybe Heider?

But who could you get that is better for the price? If the answer is no-one then that is too cheap.

Whilst I recognise that H was a great servant to the club I'm not sure he is what we are looking for now, certainly I think Ash is worht more than him as a future prospect.

I for one would hate to see him go, have you seen the problems he has caused other teams this season??? of course you have.
He is a future england first choice player for my money and anything under £5,000,000 would be a waste, either that or a well known face with cash.
Either way he is a tremendous assett to the club and losing him would not be a good thing.
As it is he fits in superbly and that in itself would be a morale knocker for the playerrs that have grown within the club with him, though they would i am sure wish him well i dont think it would be a good thing.
Plus, what about when he comes to play against us?? who have we got that could seriously keep him in check, on that basis it would be a mistake and i know we would be made to pay the price on the field. (that is to say that he would find his way to a club that would play him) unless he goes to one of the big 4 anyone buying him would play him, how could you not?

"I'd sell Young in the window and use Smith as a replacement on the wing. I'd sign a quality striker like Collins John with the Young money"

I have never heard such utter tripe!! as if smith could be a replacement for Young!

To be honest I don'y believe he has proplerly reached his potential in the premeirship AS YET. Hopefully he will make the full step up and regularly perform spectacularly( like in the championship)- but this will make other clubs want to buy him :p
and me too, if he decides to stay at the club super! if not, good luck to him elsewhere(as long as we get good money for him ;D)
