Unless we gave him the 2 year (?) deal he wouldn't have signed on a free. Very effective last season but not in the running for POTS this season.
Surely you accept the two are linked? what you’re saying is fairly contradictory, as you’re suggesting Gino is just a despot who fires managers for no real reason. That flies in the face of your usual rhetoric.
Obviously we can’t say for sure - but I don’t think it’s certain he wouldn’t have signed for 1.5yrs and demanded we gave him 2.5yrs. If he did demand that, then we shouldn’t have signed him.
I think Kayembe and Kucka are both far better than Clevs, personally. Kucka can’t pass for toffee but he does win the ball and disrupt opposition moves fairly regularly. Kayembe has looked fairly good every time he has come on but for whatever reason Hodgson just likes Clevs (probably past familiarity/big name bias). Cleverley has been genuinely awful the last few weeks.
You are very difficult to debate with due to your habit of inaccurately paraphrasing for your own benefit, so it's difficult to see what point you are actually trying to make, if any. Of course I'm not suggesting "Gino is just a despot who fires managers for no real reason". He fires them because he thinks they are under-perfoming and liable to see us relegated. Just because he may have expected us to have been involved in a relegation battle doesn't mean he expects to be relegated or accepts a run of results like we've had recently. Ok ?
Pozzo is a despot for sure. The world should be thankful that he is distracted by Watford which stops him running for president of a small Central American country.
Pretty much every PL rule can be circumvented if the PL board agrees. So yes, as long as they give the ok we can.
This is totally contradictory though. Gino expected to be in a relegation battle, but keeps firing the managers who are overseeing our relegation battle? What do you think he is expecting from these managers then?
I think if Kucka were ten years younger (!) there’d be something to work with. Clevs is total crap. Kayembe has looked decent to my eyes and I think is primarily a victim of Hodgson’s misplaced loyalty to Clevs and will I’d hazard do well for us in the Championship next season. Would be genuinely baffling if the PL let us change our squad because we’ve loaned a player out.
The length of contract was one of the most bizarre but he came in and did what was expected of him last season. Dan would of been crazy not to accept it.
Why has he gone to a Formula 1 team? Thought he would have gone to Arrows rather than Red Bull anyway.
This comment should've been in the Team Bus section. Putting it in here made me think we'd found some mugs to sell him to when I saw it at the top of this one!
The logic for him being a good option as a Championship striker for us was always bizarrely flawed, considering his record was 21 goals in 108 games. Literally no basis for it what so ever, other than the usual blind hope that Watford will somehow inexplicably manage to get blood out of a stone where every other club has failed to.
Sounds like it was all agreed for him to join Rotherham and he’s ditched them for Wigan at the last minute.
