I can see why the BPL is so popular overseas now. This is not a match it's a slaughter. Poor Arlauskis, done nothing wrong and already let in 3.

Yes, subbed at half time after being caught in no mans land twice. Oh the shame of it. Still, at least he will have a warmer winter in Barcelona.

 

Harsh judgements.
Seeing 6 goals scored by Real Madrid is not unusual in Liga for a team like Espanyol. Didn't see the goals, but I don't think they were all GK's fault.

Against Real Sociedad of course it should be different, and Arla got two goals and was subbed after 45'. The GK who subbed him got THREE goals in the following 45' for the final 0-5 result.

A c**p team apparently. Difficult times for a GK. If he survives the nightmare experience, he might still come out of this quite stronger.
For certain, if he plays, he'll have a lot of work to do!

 

They will probably cancel his loan and send him back. Could be the Lithuanian Loach.

 

Oh, browsing around I found that in the previous match in season (with Pau, the other GK) it was Espanyol-Real Madrid 0-6.

So, in an equal duel of 90' against Real Madrid and 45' against Real Sociedad, Pau let in 9 goals while Arla "only" 8.

 

If he wasn't injured, it isn't going to do his confidence a lot of good getting hooked off at half time.

 

At this rate they'll soon drop below Granada in La Liga ... It's always nice to see a Pozzo plan coming together.

 

I thought Granada looked good the other day against Real Madrid. Espanyol tonight were awful against Sociedad. Hope the Granada boys have not left it too late.

 

In the strange world of goalkeepers, many of you will remember our keeper Mike Walker (father of Ian) he played for us in the late 60/70s, we found ourselves a new keeper (Andy Rankin I think) and MW went on loan to Charlton

He played one game let in five goals and they sent him back saying he was trying to be too flashy in training, he then went on to play 451 games for Colchester, a testomonial V Arsenal and had a career as a Football Manager, there's hope for young Arliuskis yet!

 

Highlights of last night... defending was awful but not sure why he came so far off his line, could've easily stayed near the goal for both goals and potentially Sociedad would've had to shoot from an angle or cross into the centre where the defenders were.

He's still a Watford player so I don't take great pleasure in seeing him having a rough time. Hope he gets a run in the team despite last night and finds some form.

 

I believe we were extremely fortunate to come away with three points against Villa, they really didn't press us as much as they should with a Goalie playing as if the ball was a hot piece of coal and 10 minutes of injury time the points were theirs for the taking!

 

Got taken off with an injury, out for a month or so.

 

Really feel for him - just can't catch a break lately.
