April Fool Werewolf 2020 Tavern

  1. But that would've given us a 50/50 shot. Along with old posts we may have been able to deduce pretty well who and if not the half a chance was better than where we were. I think if evil had also declared themselves masons we still would've won at that point.

  2. Would be really good and interesting to do an anonymous one.

So there were two points where I needed to make a decision about the game:
Day 1 BRLR viewed the tinker, then on night 1, BRLR told me he was highly likey to view hornetgags (who was the fool) on day 2. If he had picked 2 tinkers on 2 days there's no way any of you would have believed it and credibility would be lost, so I decided to remove the joker, (plus evil were doing a great job).
Then last night when Dom killed the apprentice Seer I couldn't throw in another wolf, (but I would have done if any other player had been chosen), I also didn't want to give away that all seers were dead hence the dodgy opening message.

If you want to see my notes and stuff this is the link to the document: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WvuUVf8PpDGKvgFLhNcNHfN_JD3ONOoH/view?usp=sharing
(Sometimes I wrote the next days opening before all the night stuff had happened so might seem a bit jumbled in places)

    Cemetery open for all.

I'll delete it tomorrow at some point.

  6. @lowerrous why did you vote for yourself on day 1? A genuine error?

It swayed me to your lynching and looking at the cemetery someone else as well and possibly ultimately caused you to be lynched.

The day LR was lynched I was convinced he was the traitor.

It was indeed a genuine error.

I did think just after that it might help keep the wolves off my back, but then it also did contribute to getting me lynched (though I still can't fully understand the reasoning behind it, as my vote hadn't even counted anyway).

I was convinced he wasn't and that I was doomed.

Who ate me? GD or you?

At one point LR started defending me and I put two and two together!

    That was GD.

Like the idea of anonymous accounts. The experienced players tend to get wiped out first so a bit unfair on them, especially without a guardian.

@nornironhorn can you also remove my temporary mod powers in this section?
    Many thanks.

Good game guys, made the home time pass very quickly.

I'll let you know when my first poetry book is published.

That's a fun idea. The names of the accounts could perhaps be the occupation your village member has randomly been assigned.

Great game guys. I was completely unaware of the key roles, although I did work out the masons.

For the first few days I was convinced that the first message on day one was from Optimistichornet, the wolves and the seers played a great game.

  16. It's interesting reading the cemetery that even in the last couple of days no one really knew as a few still suspected Mike as a wolf.

If people with advanced behind the scenes knowledge don't know what's going on then the people in the game are definitely screwed!

Someone mentioned about lying about being a mason. It's a dangerous tactic as the real masons will know you are a liar and it will get you lynched.

But HH24 and CB could have come out and said they were masons and Dom and Steve could have done the same in an attempt to save GD for another night.

    Risky tactic for sure though!

This was an idea I had but at best we'd then have been 50/50 for a lynching and it seemed likely that we still wouldn't survive the next day.

The masons did a grand job for team good. I can't remember having been one but think it would be a fun role.

I’ve never been a mason before. I did quite enjoy it - it was nice knowing at least two fellow “good” players, and probably just as well or I would definitely have thought moog was evil on day 2! Didn’t stop me mistakenly believing mike to be evil for most of the game, though.

  21. Masons and traitors must be great roles knowing who other players are from the start.

As a mason, you only know the other two masons.

  23. Yeah I know, and traitors only the wolves.

Just feels like you can have much more fun with the roles when you know for sure who some people are.

Like when CB was mentioned in a wolf message, you 2 others could really help to direct the conversation and voting.

Just feels like it could be a fun couple of roles.

I think this was the first game the masons actually played a part in affecting the outcome.

I was once a mason (possibly my first game) and one of the others was killed for being inactive and the other did nothing when I was being lynched!

The most fun I ever had was the one evil role I was given a few years ago when I was traitor.

The first action the traitor must do is alert the wolves in a subtle way so they get the message without alerting anyone else. If the seer views the tinker, as it did the time I was traitor, it's very easy to blend in with the crowd and gain credibility. The best bit about that role was the fact that on the final day the wolves and I were still alive so I was able to direct the villagers to lynch a good person.

Agree, it does help and adds another dimension to the game you play.

Trouble is, I was so caught up in trying to spot this that it led me to do 1+1=5 re Mike. I didn’t believe his early mistake re the rules was genuine (it was) & then, when we knew GD was the Alpha, I saw that mike had “liked” one of his posts early in the game, not long before he posted that the members of team evil would be trying to communicate with each other. I became convinced that this was what he’d done and that his posts about the alpha wolf being experienced were a bluff! Couldn’t have been more wrong, as it turns out....

Once I gave out the roles it appeared some of you were throwing hints around in the tavern the night before.

One thing I do know is I am awful at this game. I'm suspicious of everyone and I believe everyone in equal measure.

One example, knowing Happy is a Mason, check post 12. I'm also certain BRLR's post about "letting you know" was also a clue.

You give me too much credit, Diamond. Great game btw - thanks again for running it.

  34. I thought otter and Mike were possibly trying to throw us off the scent in the sign up thread when they both said about not letting the wolves communicate outside of the game. Roles had been assigned by then so were they pretending not to want the extra benefit?!

    No Horace. No they weren't.
