Was in Venice recently and the amount of rough looking pigeons I saw, just standing there with their wing seemingly hanging off , who then eventually just flew off right as rain was numerous.

Basically they’re massive fakers, so don’t believe a world they say.

For years my wife had been banging on about going there. I was resistant because as you say, everything is a con, and stinks most of the year. I based this off of people I knew who'd been.

Last year we went on holiday to Croatia, we drove there, on the return journey she wanted to go to Venice. So I suggested we stay in a different town and catch a train. We spent 4 hours in Venice, it was more than enough and it's chalked off of the list so I don't have to go there again.

Like many beautiful places, spoiled by people flocking to view it. Most of the world's 'must see' attractions are a big disappointment in real life.

Don't recommend this. Dog food is extremely hard to ignite and doesn't really make a good spectacle. Screenshot_20241003_074301_WhatsApp.jpg

We did similar actually, just the other way round, went south to north in Italy, then across to Croatia.

I found Venice a bit odd, in that I would never have been bothered to have gone there, but at the same time it’s kind of like a wonder of the world, so it was interesting to see it and chalk it off the list and I was glad I went for that reason. It just so happened that it made sense for us to fly there from Sicily, and then it was easy for us to get the train from there to Bologna then on to Cinque Terre. We spent a couple of days there, but one was definitely enough. Once you walk round for a bit you’ve kind of seen everything you need to, and beyond wandering around there isn’t anything else to do really. We didn’t find it too overpriced (about the same as London prices €9 for a pint mostly) but we did accidentally wander into a hotel bar by the canal that was €30 for a cocktail and €18 for a bottle of beer.

    Had to share this one:

I think the question is reasonable, but the concept of showing respect for a dead, wild animal is ******* hilarious to me.

Is it (checks watch) a time of the year? Is it possible you might be (checks notes) doing something?

Don't do it! Because of animals. Whatever it is.

This evening whilst going from the car to the house a firework was set off in the distance, my dog was then scared to leave the house for the rest of the night. Please please please can people do fireworks on Bonfire Night only!

Please just keep it to the one night when people can actually prepare their pets for the evening (snoods/noise cancelling earmuffs, calming medication, long walk before sunsets, early toilet time, early dinner, licky matts, etc)

"I agree wholeheartedly, even though my two year old cockapoo slept through fireworks last night."

"Animals get so distressed fireworks should be banned or get the silent ones..."

"Absolutely and use the quiet fireworks people suffering with PTSD are affected and a lot of wild life just drop dead with fireworks"

I don’t see the issue with this. Luckily my dogs aren’t bothered by fireworks, but it can be an utterly miserable time for some of them. Nothing wrong with trying to give them a slightly less **** time while we burn things in the name of something that happened over 400 years ago.

Why should the rest of us have to curtail our pleasure and enjoyment in order to accommodate the likes and dislikes of your pet?

We already put up with dog crap everywhere, bags hanging from trees filled with more crap, extending leads wrapping around our ankles in the street, all sorts of farm animals and wildlife chased, terrified and worried and the endless yap yap yap yap yap. I was in a cafe the other day and a couple sat happily having their breakfast with a little dog that yapped loudly every two seconds for around 45 mins.

And all from nature's most dangerous animal, with more people attacked, bitten and killed across the world than sharks, spiders and snakes put together.

That's one of the things that annoys me so much. The owners seem absolutely convinced that the whole world loves Honey Cuddles Booboo just as much as they do and will happily put up with all their excesses, whilst taking the greatest care not to act in any way that might possibly offend or startle the bloody thing.

Oh and I'll agree to 'silent' fireworks when they agree to have their animal muzzled with a silencer at all times so that I don't become anxious and upset about their barking and the possibility of me or my children being attacked and mauled.

And all this is bad enough when people have one dog per household, but now the norm seems to be two or more. My grandchildren were really upset this week on t' Ilkley Moor by a pack of six dogs that were not under the control of their one dog walker. "Oh they're all friendly" does NOT cut it with a child who is the same height as the dogs.

I have on order a pair of "friendly" grizzly bears which I shall be letting loose amoungst the dog walkers.
