Don't they all ? I'm not sure we should look to sell Gray as he gives us better pace upfront and creates more 1 on 1 situations. Would Vydra be a better option ? What do others think ?
We want an otter who's a slotter. Unfortunately, we seem to have missed the boat on this one. MV appears to have reinvented himself as a Czech Kevin the Teenager:
WTF is going on with Afobe? Nothing to do with us thankfully but Wolves took up their option and signed him for £12.5 just 2 days ago and he’s now on the verge of signing for Stoke?!
Didn't we do something like this with somebody and it was questioned a bit? Might have not even been in the Pozzo era.. Shame for Afobe as he was really keen to join Wolves again.
Didn't he sign for arsenal and then leave in a swap for Kenny Sansom before playing a first team game for them ?
Rumour that Stoke are interested, willing to pay £14m, we may be happy to sell, deal breaker is whether or not he wants to give up PL football. [Alan Nixon]
Well he only lasted about 2 weeks so unless he looked really poor in such a short period of time think the lack of discipline issue might be true.
http://the72.co.uk/104659/stoke-city-plotting-stunning-14-million-move-watford-striker/ Here's the link to the story. This ties in with my long held belief that he is only really a top class Championship player. He'll do well for Stoke at the level for sure. £14m would be a good deal all round. Gracia is staying and he never selected Gray unless he had to, so it makes even more sense to move him on. This has always been a bad signing for us. A record transfer fee. When I know how prudent Watford are at making value money signings for players of calibre, I just don't know why Gray ever came to the club. I raised my eyebrows when I heard he was signing, then when I heard the fee, I just thought, well someone knows something I don't. It turns out they didn't. I suspect Downing was behind this transfer, and he didn't last too long after it. When you are in the Championship, you have to sign someone that will get you out of it. Gray is a perfect fit for this type of strategy. He's not a Premier League player. The only clubs we could move him on to would be a newly promoted club, or a promotion chasing Championship club. We will take a loss, as I've always felt we would, but if £14m is correct, it wouldn't be a massive hit.
It was reported in virtually every media outlet. £18.5m is the widely acclaimed transfer fee. Not sure why so many people on here want to dispute it. If you dispute this, then every single transfer fee has to be disputed, unless you see the actually contracts and banks accounts for the clubs involved. I think it just doesn't sit well with fans, to think we paid this much, so it's disputed without reason, even though all quotes and reports say otherwise. One of the more reliable websites is Transfer Market. Even they have it as around £18.5m https://www.transfermarkt.com/andre-gray/profil/spieler/120565
