Eventual replacement for Gomez and straight in as our No2, probably pushing for the No1 slot from day 1 me thinks.

My problem with Selina Gomez is that she still looks 12 even though she's much older.

Best named French goalie for us since Welwyn Le Hemel.

    Oui certainement!

Expect us to be linked with a number of keepers between now and the end of the season, was always going to see Gomes and/or Pants leave during the Summer.

I thought we would prioritise someone for the wingdings.

Could be right. It would be nice to have 2 keepers genuinely competing for the 1st team, preferably 1 being HG or under 21

A french guy I know was praising this fella (and a few other french younsters) the other day when we were having a chat about football in the pub, and he reckons he'll be France's number 1 in a few years, so sounds like it'd be great to get him, but I doubt he'd want to come as a back up keeper, would expect he'd want to be playing as much as possible.

If that is the case, it might improve our chances of getting him, as he would be more likely to get into our team than the likes of Arsenal and the other big teams who are supposed to be looking at him.

We could tell him he would be competing for the No1 shirt from the day he arrives and if he was good enough he would get it; I doubt that Arsenal etc.would be able to offer him that.

    Lafont?

Heard he's got good Arial ability.

Heard he's been playing at a very high calibri in France and could initially be loaned out to a team in Cambria.

Sounds a good prospect but could he really be our #1 at that age in the prem?

  14. reids

    reids First Team

Indeed, but they would be able to offer him plenty more money and his reputation would increase by moving to Arsenal. Depends what sort of player he is/what agent he has.

We could loan him out to one of our feeder clubs like Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham etc!

Somehow "starlet" and "goalkeeper" don't seem to fit together. Somewhat like "starlet" and "stonemason". Skilled, valuable trades both, but not exactly a spot where one will be slashing through the opposition, bringing terror to the opposition and all that....

I'd rather we signed highly-rated French goalkeeper Claude Away

Would anyone take Ben Foster back on a perm basis either as a #2? He was pretty great in our promotion season that year and has excelled at West Brom. However, it's very unlikely he would come back to the Vic. I'm very shocked Man Utd did not keep him - he's young, quite experienced now and better agility.

No2!!! He would be No1 and yes I would take him back in a flash!

    Or Moroccan stopper Baddat Crossis

I think most of us would welcome him back, as #1 However he has just signed a new contract with West Brom so his moving anywhere is highly unlikely, and as for him being young, he turns 34 on 3rd April this year.

If we want a young homegrown keeper (23 in March) then we should be looking to try and get a deal in place for Jordan Pickford, ready for if/when Sunderland go down.

Us and nearly every Prem team.

'Muff, Arsenal, Chelsea, (If/When Begovic or Courtois goes) 'Pool, Everton, Swansea to name the more likely candidates to want him as a potential 1st choice. And every other team who want cover.

Ah, if we don't get him we should go after De Gea.

Wow, I had no idea he was that old. In my mind he's still a young, up & coming keeper! How time flies.

Always assumed it was the other way round and that's why he was happy to come to the UK despite the Falklands. But as I say you learn something every day on this forum.
